Ariana Grande: This Was the Worst Year of My Whole Life …

One month ago, we reported that Ariana Grande had been named Billboard's Woman of the Year.

Thursday night, she received the award. It's what she deserves.

But during her acceptance speech, she admitted that she doesn't know what she's doing and that this year has been a miserable trainwreck.

Ariana Grande's star has never been brighter -- and that is saying a lot.

The dazzlings inger accepted her Woman of the Year award at Billboard's Women in Music event, which was on Thursday night.

Music legend Patti LaBelle presented her with the award, introducing her as "all that and a bag of chips."

Ariana was quick to point out, as she gave her speech, that she's not nearlya s together as people seem to assume.

"I think a lot of people would look at someone in my position right now, I guess -- Woman of the Year -- an artist that could be at her peak," Ariana said.

Ariana noted that people might perceive her as "reaching her, you know, whatever."

We're guessing that she was trying to say stride or goals.

Ariana continued, noting that people see her "and think, you know, 'She's really got her s--t together,' Ya know?"

Well, she's a global phenomenon, one of the greatest musical talents in human history, and everyone is talking about her.

She broke off an engagement in October.

Weeks later, she came out with a breakup anthem -- and then a record-shattering music video.

Ariana notes that people look at her "Like, 'She's really on it.'"

"Like, 'She's got it all,'" she characterizes.

"I want to say that I find it interesting that this has been one of the best years of my career and the worst of my life," Ariana shares.

That is positively heartbreaking.

"But as far as my personal life goes," she shares. "I really have no idea what the f--k I'm doing,"

That, as the kids say, is a whole mood.

"I just want to say if you're someone out there who has no idea what this next chapter's gonna bring, you're not alone in that," Ariana says.

Inspirational!

Ariana Grande is a Mean Girl

She then begins to tear up -- and chastise herself for it.

"Ew, I'm not gonna cry," Ariana affirms. "That's really stupid."

Crying isn't stupid, but we can absolutely understand her resolve to not do so on stage.

"I'm really looking forward to embracing whatever happens;" Ariana says. "Whatever comes my way."

"I look forward to hopefully learning to give some of the love and forgiveness ..." she begins.

Ariana continues: "... that I've given away so frivolously and easily to men in the past to myself hopefully this year."

Ariana Grande Among Blossoms

"I have everything I've ever dreamt of having," Ariana gushes.

She's absolutely right.

"And as of late," she concludes. "I've discovered that it's the things I've always had and the people I've always had that still make me the happiest."

That kind of realization tends to be the moral of a lot of stories.

Ariana is a delight and we wish her the absolute best.

We hope that she learns to pair professional success with personal happiness. You absolutely can have both.
