Academy Now Considering Having NO Oscars Host Following Kevin Hart’s Exit!

Time to panic! The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences is scrambling to find a suitable star to host the Oscars following Kevin Hart’s dramatic departure last week — and it sounds like they’re getting desperate.

Sources told Variety that the Academy was “blindsided” by Hart’s abrupt exit last Thursday and the Board of Governors is now “freaking out” over the fact that they’re back to square one. The matter will be discussed at a Board meeting on Tuesday night, where some unconventional ideas will apparently be tossed around.

VOTE: Who Should Host The 2019 Oscars?

While enlisting in the services of a late night host like Jimmy Kimmel or James Corden seems like the obvious choice, the Academy is now said to be hesitant to hire a host that might be too edgy. At the same time, a tame host likely wouldn’t bode well for the show’s ratings, which already hit a record low last year.

Another option being mulled over is having NO host for the ceremony, but instead “a bunch of huge celebs, something SNL style, and buzzy people” to keep the night moving, according to the insiders. One source noted that the idea of a group monologue had already been floated around.

That’s a lotttt of Twitter auditing they’d have to do…

Do U think the show would run smoother without a host? Sound off in the comments!

VOTE: Now That Kevin Hart’s Out, Who Should Host The 2019 Oscars?

Back to the drawing board!

As we reported, Kevin Hart backed out of hosting the 2019 Oscars on Thursday due to his anti-gay jokes from long ago resurfacing, causing an internet uproar, and putting him in the awkward — and clearly very traumatizing — spot to say he was sorry.

Now that Hart’s out, the Academy is back on the search for a host who is both funny and without a history of questionable homophobia. Someone engaging and controversial — but not too controversial! Network TV controversial. So, like… Ellen DeGeneres.

Thankfully, social media is bustling with suggestions. Twitter has already nominated the likes of Billy Eichner, Tiffany Haddish, Patton Oswalt, Kristen Bell, Wanda Sykes, and Dwayne “The Rock Johnson. (We’d also like to throw Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele in the ring as co-hosts!)

Other contenders, like Busy Philipps and Ricky Gervais, were not subtle about letting the Academy know that they, too, were avail.

Which of these stars do YOU think should host the 2019 Oscars? Or do you think NO ONE should host it? That’s fine, too! Cast your votes (below)!

Kevin Hart Apologizes For Old Anti-Gay Tweets — As He Announces He Will NO LONGER Host The Oscars!

Kevin Hart has finally issued an apology — but it came with his resignation for hosting the 2019 Oscars.

On Thursday, the Night School star announced that he would “step down” from hosting the 91st Academy Awards, mere hours after insisting he would not apologize for the anti-gay comments and tweets he made years ago.

In a series of tweets, the comedian said he made the choice to step down because he didn’t want his controversy “to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists,” adding that he “sincerely apologize[s] to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.”

His change of Hart (sorry) came a little over an hour after he shared an Instagram video revealing that the Academy threatened to replace him with another host if he didn’t apologize for the resurfaced comments that drew the ire of social media.

The comments in question were mostly “jokes” where Hart mocked gay men and used the word “F**.” He also came under fire for a nearly decade-old stand-up bit about how one of his “biggest fears” was his son “growing up and being gay.”

In his non-apology video, the 39-year-old said he “chose to pass” on the enforced apology, as he felt he should not be held accountable for comments he made years ago because people “change, grow, [and] evolve as they get older.”

Did Hart prove his point by offering a “sincere” apology along with his resignation? Read his tweets (below) and share your thoughts in the comments!

Ariana Grande Reflects On 2018 Being The ‘Best’ For Her Career & ‘Worst’ Of Her Life

From the death of her ex Mac Miller to her broken off engagement to Pete Davidson, along with the release of the already iconic thank u, next music video, Ariana Grande has a lot to reflect on from the past year.

Accepting her award for Billboard‘s Woman of the Year award on Thursday night, the songstress opened up to the audience about her 2018, while struggling to hold back tears.

Poll: Do U Think Ariana Is Putting On A ‘Blaccent’?

She confessed:

“I want to say that I find it interesting that this has been one of the best years of my career and the worst of my life. I’m not saying that for sympathy, I’m just saying that because I think a lot of people would look at someone in my position right now…and think, ‘She’s really got her s**t together,’ Ya know? Like, ‘She’s really on it.’ Like, ‘She’s got it all.'”

But Ari says there’s more to it than just her career:

“I do, but as far as my personal life goes, I really have no idea what the f**k I’m doing so yeah, it’s been a very conflicting one.”

The 25-year-old continued as she held back tears:

“I just want to say if you’re someone out there who has no idea what this next chapter’s gonna bring, you’re not alone in that. Ew, I’m not gonna cry that’s really stupid… You’re not alone in that. I’m really looking forward to embracing whatever happens; whatever comes my way.”

And the pop star finished off her speech, echoing her sentiments from thank u, next, by saying she’s going to give herself a bit more love:

“I look forward to hopefully learning to give some of the love and forgiveness that I’ve given away so frivolously and easily to men in the past to myself hopefully this year. I have everything I’ve ever dreamt of having and as of late I’ve discovered that it’s the things I’ve always had and the people I’ve always had that still make me the happiest.”

Keep doing your thing, girl!

An Ari-Ari relationship sounds just perfect!

2019 Golden Globe Nominees: Snubs & Surprises!

Audiences are treated to more and more content each year, yet the amount of award show categories to honor said content continues to stay the same.

Maybe that’s why it felt like there were more snubs than usual in the 2019 Golden Globes nominees?

Sure, there were plenty of pleasant surprises… Sacha Baron Cohen pranked his way into the Best Actor category for Who Is America?; The Good Place was recognized for Best Comedy Series — its star, Kristen Bell, also landed a good Best Actress nod; Alison Brie finally scored a Best Actress nod for GLOW; and Candice Bergen (!) was nominated for the Murphy Brown reboot.

Related: Kevin Hart Is Hosting The Oscars!

But for every surprise, there were several disappointments. Here are some of the biggest snubs fans are reeling over:

Ted Danson

ted danson the good place

Although NBC’s philosophical sitcom about the afterlife finally landed a nomination, the beloved architect of the titular Good Place didn’t make the cut. Danson was considered the most likely nomination out of the bunch, but apparently the HFPA didn’t think he was good enough.

Robin Wright

robin wright house cards

It was Claire Underwood’s time to shine in the final, Kevin Spacey-less season of House of Cards. Unfortunately, she didn’t plot hard enough to get herself on the nominations list.

The Handmaid’s Tale

handmaids tale

This dystopian Hulu series won Best Drama at the Globes last year, so it’s a surprise to see Season 2 not make the category at all. At least Elizabeth Moss and Yvonne Strahovski landed Best Lead and Best Supporting Actress nods.

A Quiet Place

quiet place john krasinski

John Krasinski’s critically acclaimed, mostly-silent horror film managed to pick up an ironic nomination for Best Original Score, but Krasinski was snubbed from the director’s category and Emily Blunt was unrecognized for Best Actress. She did earn a nod for Mary Poppins Returns, though.

Sterling K. Brown

this is us randall sterling k brown

The This Is Us favorite won last year for Best Actor, so fans teared up a little when he didn’t make the cut this year. Blame it on Jason Bateman.

Mandy Moore

this is us mandy moore

Another This Is Us snub for the woman who flawlessly plays a million ages. The Best Actress in a Drama category was a tough one to crack this year, though, with major competition from nominees including Sandra Oh, Keri Russell, and Julia Roberts.

Westworld

westworld dolores evan rachel wood

The second season of the HBO sci-fi drama won big at the Emmys a few months ago, but only managed to land a Best Supporting nod for Thandi Newton. Sorry, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, and Evan Rachel Wood!

Atlanta

donald glover atlanta

While Donald Glover was nominated in the Best Actor category, the groundbreaking FX comedy’s second season was shut out of the Comedy Series category, despite being an Emmys darling. We guess HFPA didn’t like that Season 2 was inspired by Tiny Toons?

What do U think the biggest snubs and surprises were?
