Chris Brown Posts Birthday Shout-Out to Rihanna, Gets Roasted By Fans

Thankfully, Chris Brown hasn't been in the news much lately.

Generally when you see Breezy's name in a headline, it's a sure sign that you're face will soon be firmly planted in your palm.

And we're sad to say this latest case is no exception.

Chris Brown at Premiere

Today, Rihanna celebrates her 30th birthday, an occasion that she'll probably mark by smoking 31 blunts.

(The last one is because she lost count.)

Milestone birthdays can be times of poignant reflection, and obviously RiRi has a whole hell of a lot to be proud o.

But like most of us, there are some aspect of her past that she likely wishes would remain in the past.

And today, one of the ghosts of her early twenties swooped in to remind the Barbadian queen of a time she'd probably prefer to forget.

The photo above was posted on Instagram by Brown with a caption reading simply, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY @badgalriri."

Needless to say, some fans weren't thrilled to see the man who brutally assaulted Rihanna attempting to steal her birthday shine.

"This isn't cute," wrote one follower. "He put his hands on her. Grow up. Move on. Respect."

"DELETE THIS!" another commented.

"I wouldn’t like to have my abuser show affection to me after getting my head bashed into the floor," a third remarked.

The consensus seemed to be that Chris remains a dumbass and should probably be considered as a first-ballot inductee into the Dumbass Hall of Fame.

But believe it or not, for reasons that defy explanation and make us seriously consider taking up residence in the deep woods, several miles from the nearest router, there are still folks out there who want Chris and Rihanna to get back together.

"Can y’all get married now like damn it’s long overdue!" wrote one eager fan.

"Aww him and Rihanna would have a cute baby," observed one clueless user.

Yes, in just 9 short years, many seem to have forgotten just how brutal Chris' attack truly was.

If you still had any hope left for humanity, it might be time to abandon it.

On the bright side, Chris doesn't appear to have dated anyone seriously since he broke up with Karrueche Tran for the last time in 2016, so maybe he's finally realized that he should be removed from the gene pool.

Rihanna: Boyfriend Hassan Jameel Warning Chris Brown to Stay Away?!

Rihanna is ... well, there's no real way to communicate with mere words how amazing Rihanna is.

She's beautiful, intelligent, talented, and just so many good things. There aren't enough hours in the day to sit down and count all of her virtues.

Rihanna Chills

She's just the best, OK?

And if you're a human being who walks this earth, then you surely know that.

It just makes sense that since Rihanna is such a treasure to us all, she's even more special to the men she dates -- and since last year, she's been dating billionaire Hassan Jameel.

Hassan is the deputy president and vice chairman of his family's company, which owns the rights to sell Toyota cars in Saudi Arabia.

We don't know much more about him, since he and Rihanna have been keeping their relationship very private.

But we do know that they've been dating for close to a year now, and that they definitely seem serious about each other.

So that's nice, right? It's good to see Rihanna with someone who isn't an aggressive, violent, hateful, scary douchebag.

And speaking of Chris Brown ...

It seems like while Chris isn't exactly an issue in Rihanna and Hassan's relationship, Hassan is concerned about him.

A source tells Hollywood Life that "He is uncomfortable with her ex Chris lurking in her past."

Chris Brown at Premiere

Gee, wonder why?

"Hassan doesn't trust Chris," the source adds, "and he feels like he is unpredictable when it comes to Rihanna."

"He feels like Chris is capable of trying anything to win her back and that has him feeling uneasy. Hassan tries not to worry about Chris, but knowing he may still love Rihanna makes him feel a bit tense."

His concerns may be valid -- another source claims that even after all this time and even though Rihanna has clearly moved on, Chris is still hung up on her.

"Chris thinks Hassan is not good enough for Rihanna -- but then, nobody would be good enough for her in his eyes," this insider states.

Chris Brown Sans Shirt

He's including himself in that, right? He can't think that he's good enough for her. Right?!

"He thinks there's no way Rihanna would marry this dude, which is kinda funny really as he doesn't know Hassan at all," the source continues.

"Chris just can't help it though, even after all these years, and all the water that's passed under the bridge, he still loves Rihanna to pieces and he still thinks of her as being his girl."

"It's totally crazy, but Chris still holds out this belief that one day, somehow, he and Rihanna will get back together and live happily after," the insider concludes.

No wonder Hassan has some concerns.

Especially when Chris has referred to himself as a stalker in the past, and has made statements like "If I love you, bitch, ain't nobody gonna have you, I'm gonna make you miserable."

We'd say we don't have the best feeling about this, but we never have good feelings when it comes to Chris Brown.

Amber Rose Denies Chris Brown Hookup

Chris Brown and Teyana Taylor are just friends. We all know being friends can lead to being friends with benefits, but in this case we think they are just friends.

That's the word on the street at least, despite celebrity gossip sites' reports of Teyana (the Rihanna look-alike) being Chris Brown’s "date" to a weekend party.

Reports also suggested that he was "disrespecting" his date by hooking up with Amber Rose, creating a love triangle and potentially enraging Kanye West.

But did Amber Rose and Chris Brown really hook up?

Amber Rose and Chris Brown

Teyana Taylor posted this picture of them on her Twitter page, with the description that they were "cupcakin' it all night, LOL." Whatever that means.

Doesn't sound like the stuff of a jealous girlfriend, right? Moreover, a quite attributed to Amber Rose regarding Brown has surfaced online. She says:

“I know Chris, cause I did the Ludacris and Chris Brown video."

"However, there is nothing romantic between the two of us, whatsoever, and I was definitely not kissing him that night. This is total fabrication by the media."

"But I don’t let that kind of stuff bother me ... I just laugh it off.”

That's probably a good thing. Especially if you are Kanye West's computer. Man, that sucker would have gotten annihilated harder than Rihanna if Brown hit that.

Rumor: Chris Brown Hooks Up with Amber Rose

Chris Brown likely scared off some girls by beating Rihanna to a pulp.

Amber Rose apparently isn't one of them.

Brown and Kanye West's ex reportedly locked lips at the July 4 White Party thrown by Sean (Diddy) Combs and Ashton Kutcher in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The embattled singer arrived at the party with singer Teyana Taylor, his Rihanna look-alike pal, but is said to have hooked up quickly with Amber Rose.

"Diddy announced the deejay would do a tribute to Michael Jackson," said a guest to the New York Daily News. "Chris Brown did an amazing impression of Michael Jackson's moonwalk. It wasn't long after that before he was dancing with Amber."

Later, the pair nestled on a couch in the back yard.

"They were holding hands and making out in the shadows," said a witness. "[Amber Rose] had her hand on his leg." Wow, get a room, you two!

Teyana Taylor is said to have been irked by the amount of time Brown spent with Rose, but still accompanied him to an after-party at the club Guys.

There, Brown again got upclose and personal with Rose again, kissing her on the dance floor in front of Teyana. But he and Amber left separately.

Some wondered whether Chris Brown's blatant display with Amber Rose was a defiant message both to Rihanna and Kanye West. Rihanna dumped Brown, who last month pleaded guilty to assaulting her at what was to be his preliminary hearing.

West, who has said he was "devastated" by Brown's attack on a woman who was like "my little sister," has run hot and cold on Rose lately. Although he reportedly broke up with her last month, they were back together at the BET Awards.

Chris Brown: Not My Fault!

One day after the Chris Brown plea deal assured the singer would avoid jail time on assault and criminal threats charges, he has a new song surfacing online.

The title: "Not My Fault."

Think it might have something to do with certain recent events? The lyrics deal with a girl he used to date - a singer, no less - who got "caught up." Hmm.

Caught up in a media circus and assault trial after he allegedly walloped her, perhaps? Caught up in a romance with another man (Drake)? Who's to say.

Chris in Court

HIS FAULT: Chris Brown pleaded guilty to assault Monday.

On the Neptunes-produced track, Chris Brown goes on to warble that, when he first met the mystery woman, he promised she would be "saved" by him.

And wouldn't you know it, Monday, Brown "saved" Rihanna, who was on hand for the preliminary hearing, from the indignity of taking the stand during the assault trial to describe how he used her face as a speedbag. What a gentleman!

Check out the song below, at least until it's taken down in a matter of minutes, and tell us what you think. Is it about Rihanna? Regardless, does it suck?

The Chris Brown Plea Deal: Was it Too Light?

Did yet another celebrity get preferential treatment because of fame?

After pleading guilty to a felony assault charge on Monday, the Chris Brown plea deal allows the singer to avoid going to jail for being up Rihanna.

He agreed to five years' probation, 52 weeks in an anti-domestic violence program and 180 days of labor service, and must stay clear of his ex.

Did the music star receive a light sentence considering what he did? The consensus among criminal defense attorneys seems to be ... yes and no.

According to some, Brown's fame may have worked against him in crafting the plea bargain, despite the way he fervently annihilated Rihanna's face.

Typically, first-time felony assault offenders avoid jail time, just like Brown. But many simply do probation and domestic violence counseling and then move on, without donning an orange jumpsuit and picking trash off of the highway.

Back to Court

In general, plea bargains usually involve a defendant choosing between a mix of hard labor, community service, probation and jail. If a defendant chooses jail, then the sentencing period usually shrinks by a factor of two or three to one.

In other words, Chris Brown sought to avoid jail time, which he could have faced given the severity of the charges, so his work sentence was harsher.

Had he agreed to jail, he may have only had to do a few weeks or a month, which would suck, but would hasten his return to singing, dancing and making lame Youtube videos with Bow Wow. Right now, he's got a job for six months.

Compared with overall sentencing statistics, Brown's punishment appears a bit harsher than average. But factoring in the worldwide notoriety of the incident and the vulnerability of the victim (a woman), he probably got lucky too.

So basically ... what do you think? Was the punishment just?

Yes, let the kid move on!
No, he got off too easy!

Chris Brown ducks jail time in plea deal

Chris Brown Accepts Plea Deal, Avoids Jail Time

Chris Brown has copped a plea bargain in his assault and criminal threats case and will not serve time in jail, as per an agreement reached just moments ago.

Rihanna was in court today but the plea was announced before the preliminary hearing even took place, so she did not testify. The details on Brown's deal:

  • Chris Brown will spend 180 days in a labor diversion program in Virginia, where he lives. This is a step tougher community service - Brown must do regimented, hard labor (like highway cleanup) during that time, but may live at home.
  • He will work eight hours a day during that span (1,440 hours total).
  • He received five years probation for felony assault. He must return to court every three months for a status report during those five years. If Brown in any way violates probation, he could get up to four years in prison.
  • He must enroll in a domestic violence counseling program.
  • He must stay completely clear from Rihanna at all times. If they are at the same public events, he still must keep 10 yards' distance.
  • As Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to the felony assault charge, he is a convicted felon who loses the right to vote or carry a gun.

No Jail Time

The judge presiding over the case said she wanted to make sure Chris Brown "was treated as any other person who comes through this court."

Do you agree with the punishment?

Yes, let the kid move on!
No, he got off too easy!

Will Rihanna Stick to Her Story at Chris Brown Hearing?

Rihanna is set to take the stand as a witness against Chris Brown in his preliminary hearing today, with the festivities starting at 1:45 PM PST (4:45 EST).

Suffice it to say, her testimony is hugely important, an could potentially make or break the case against her ex-boyfriend. All bets are off at this point.

A few burning questions for today's hearing:

  • Will she stick to the story she told cops the night of the alleged beating? Rihanna said Brown had beaten her before and the violence was escalating?
  • Will Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, cross-examine Rihanna?
  • Additionally, if the case goes to trial, will Geragos argue that she was the initial aggressor, repeatedly hitting him before he began pounding on her?
  • Will the photo of Rihanna's battered face be admitted? Or the pics that were supposedly taken the next day - after the bruising and swelling settled, and looked even worse - that were not leaked to the press?

The judge has rejected TV or livestream coverage for today's hearing, but we will be posting updates with additional information as it becomes available.

Chris Brown Hooks Up with Keri Hilson

Hooks up in the professional sense, that is. Not in the sense of a make-out session between them, or delivering a devastating right hook to her dome.

Even with his preliminary hearing scheduled for tomorrow, Chris Brown isn't letting legal problems get in the way of putting together his new album.

Keri Hilson, a hit-making songwriter and singing superstar in her own right, tells E! Online that Chris recently asked for her help in the studio.

"He contacted me like four or five days ago," Hilson said. "Us working together will be the first project I've worked on as a songwriter in a while."

This wouldn't be the first time for the two. They dueted on "Superhuman," plus Hilson wrote "Young Love," a track on Brown's debut album.

Keri Hilson Pic

Despite Chris Brown's alleged walloping of Rihanna on February 8, Keri Hilson thinks his fans will stick with him, especially as more time passes.

"It is unfortunate what they are going through, but I feel like if you've ever had a fan base, you're really only one song away from appeasing that base," she said of Chris Brown, whose PR firm is actively trying to remake his image.

"Whether that song is autobiographical or whether you want to talk about it or not, you're just one hit away. That's what I think of the industry in a nutshell."

Lil Wayne is another controversial star Hilson has collaborated with. Most recently, two women (Nivea Hamilton and Lauren London) came out and said that they are currently pregnant with babies fathered by the frequently-arrested rapper.

"I'm still kind of hoping it's not true," Hilson said of Lil Wayne's losing battle with condoms. "I'm a face-value person. I won't believe it until I see it."

Give it about 6-7 months then, Keri.

Chris Brown Hearing on For Monday; Rihanna Testimony Likely; Cameras Not Permitted in Courtroom

Defense efforts to delay Chris Brown's preliminary hearing failed as the California Supreme Court denied a motion by lawyer Mark Geragos to give him more time.

He sought to investigate further the leak of police photos showing Rihanna's battered face, which appeared on TMZ and may form the basis for Brown's defense.

The judge ruled earlier that the leak is not relevant to the case against Brown, at least as far as delaying a preliminary hearing - to determine if Brown will stand trial - right now. She indicated she may change her mind before a trial.

That means game on for Monday!

Don't expect any live streams from the courtroom, though. The hearing - at which Rihanna is expected to testify - will not be televised, a court spokesman said.

Los Angeles Criminal Court Judge Patricia Schnegg has decided against allowing cameras into the courtroom during Rihanna's testimony, Alan Parachini said.

Prosecutors are expected to call Rihanna, 22, as a witness Monday as they make their case that Chris Brown, 20, brutally attacked and threatened her.

Brown faces two felony counts - assault and making criminal threats - stemming from an early morning incident before the Grammy Awards February 8.

If Brown accepts a plea bargain, the hearing would be unnecessary. He would certainly like that to happen, however, the fact that no plea has been reached yet indicates the sides may not be close to reaching a mutually acceptable punishment.

Rihanna has cleared her schedule so she could be in court if prosecutors call her as a witness June 22, her lawyer, Donald Etra, said last month.

Brown, who was laying low for a few months after the alleged attack, has been out and about lately as his PR handlers try to remake his image.

He's been seen at lots of NBA playoff games, and even filmed a short video with Bow Wow on YouTube in May in which he said, "I ain't a monster."

Chris Brown Appeals Ruling, Seeks Hearing Delay

Chris Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, has petitioned the California Supreme Court to postpone his client's upcoming preliminary hearing, scheduled for Monday.

While his PR peeps plot his every public move, his attorney is doing all he can to buy time in the assault and criminal threats case pending against Brown.

Geragos wants to delay the hearing until a judge decides if he can have access to LAPD records of its investigation into the battered Rihanna photo leak.

The state appeals court denied the same request last week.

Whether this is a stalling tactic as Geragos negotiates a plea, or if he really plans to use the photo leak as the crux of Brown's defense, remains to be seen.

Chris Brown Live Photo

Rihanna has been subpoeaned to testify at the June 22 hearing and her attorney, Donald Etra, says she's planning to comply with the prosecution's wishes.

Of course, neither music star wants to see a trial happen.

Chris Brown is accused of threatening the life and pounding the living daylights out of the 21-year-old Rihanna after a pre-Grammy party on February 8.

He would undeniably accept a plea bargain if one were on the table that allowed him to avoid jail time. The fact that this has not taken place already, however, suggests a lack of interest from the prosecution in allowing it.

Brown and Rihanna were last seen together - sort of - at Game Four of the NBA Finals. He was then seen with a Rihanna lookalike at Game Five. Obviously.

Source: PR Firm Encouraging Chris Brown Antics

As we've talked about at length, Chris Brown is in the throes of a campaign to resurrect his image as his trial for felony assault and criminal threats looms.

But who is it geared towards? And is it working?

According to people familiar with Brown's efforts, he hired Sitrick and Company, a crisis management firm for which he more than qualifies as a client.

The firm has been calculating every move he's made over the last six weeks. From the NBA Finals games, to the "I ain't a monster" video, to the antics with Omarion - the objective has been to make the images of Rihanna's battered face disappear.

How will this play with a jury if his case goes to trial?

Chris Brown, Omarion Pic

Chris Brown and BFF Omarion out having fun last week.

A source says Brown has been told going clubbing could hurt his chances with a jury - it's just too flip. For the most part, he's obeyed his handlers, however, they weren't happy when Brown hit a club with the Kardashians and Bow Wow.

Basically, the PR strategy is the opposite of what many would urge - laying low until trial. They want Chris Brown out and about, resuming life within limits.

Ironically, Rihanna may actually be helping Chris Brown by resurrecting her glamorous self and getting on with her life. She is scheduled to take the stand next Monday in Brown's preliminary hearing, unless a plea deal is hashed by then.
