Counting On Canceled? Duggars’ 2018 Season May Be Their Last

All good things must come to an end, as the old saying goes. In other news, all reality TV shows eventually run their course.

Whether you love, hate or love to hate them, it's been over a decade on TLC for the Duggars, a mightily impressive streak.

One that may be about to a conclusion.

Counting On Cast Photo

As has been the case for the last 3-4 years, TLC is not making any public assurances regarding the future of Counting On.

Ever since 19 Kids & Counting was canceled and rebranded as Counting On, the Duggar family has been on very thin ice.

Just the same, the reality TV empire survived, thanks in large part to a pivot away from the parents to their oldest childen.

That, though, has left Jim Bob Duggar with a problem on multiple fronts, as both his kids and his employers may be done.

Kendra and Joe

Yes, according to multiple reports, the Counting On stars are tired of TV and demanding time off from their handler (Jim Bob).

Soon, if TLC executives don't pull the plug on the show for them, the young adults may put an end to the practice altogether.

Jill, Jessa, Joy-Anna and company are reportedly eager “to carry on with their lives,” and those who are still single agree.

One of the biggest reasons the kids don't want the cameras following their every move is so they can court in peace.

John David Duggar and Abbie Burnett Engagement Pic

Granted, Duggar courtship rules require chaperones at all times anyway, but younger siblings are different than TV crews.

At least one of them figured this out.

“John David kept his relationship quiet and hidden so he could enjoy time without press,” an insider explained last week.

Seen above with fiancee Abby Burnett, John David had been a sparse presence on Counting On for the last few years.

Clearly that was a calculated move.

Lauren and Si

To be clear, cancelation rumors have been swirling for years as Counting On declines in ratings and increases in controversy.

So far, a loyal fan base and an emerging group of younger stars and in-laws has kept the Duggars afloat. But for how long?

The network already had to fire Josh Duggar, and relegate Jim Bob and Michelle to very minor roles, after his sex scandals.

Facing even more pressure from advertisers, the network then also had to dispatch Jill Duggar's husband Derick Dillard.

How many more hits can it take?

Jana Duggar, Laura DeMasie

These days, Counting On mainly focuses on the marriages of Jinger and Jeremy, Joy-Anna and Austin, and Joe and Kendra.

All three young couples are striking out on their own, and have taken up the bulk of the screen time so far this summer.

It also features Josiah and John David, both of whom are are currently in relationships, and Jana Duggar, who is famously single.

(Unless you believe those rumors swirling around the 28-year-old "Cinderella" Duggar and BFF Laura DeMasie, above.)

Counting On Stars

In any case, with Jill out of the picture, there's been another changing of the guard this summer, making for an uncertain future.

Jessa Duggar, who was also courting when 19 Kids first became Counting On, has begun to fade into the background as well.

The million-dollar question remains:

Is there enough interest in the new-new generation (call it Duggar 2.5) to sustain an entire show for another several years?

Perhaps they can continue to strike a precarious balance to keep the network, its advertisers, and themselves happy for now.

After all, they do need to make money ... something they don't exactly have the necessary skills or experience to help with.

We discussed earlier today how Jim Bob has robbed his daughters of careers at the same time he built this TV juggernaut.

How's that for irony?

In any case, you can be sure that the Duggars are aware of this and won't take the decision to pull the plug on the show lightly.

A source tells Radar that for now, the kids "will continue to film the show as long as they can because it is their biggest source of income."

At the same time, though, they "need to time to focus on their families," which may put them in direct conflict with their TLC gig.

That assumes TLC even wants to keep airing it, which is a different story, especially in light of some truly damaging scandals.

One more Derick Dillard comment about Jazz Jennings, or pretty much anything else, could put an end to that very, very fast.

Duggar Kids Demand Time Off: We’re Sick of Living In Front of a Camera!

Often when the fine denizens of the internet are spewing invective against reality stars in some sort of online forum the phrase "get a real job" is bandied about.

Far be it for us to defend the Kardashians and Snookis of the world -- people who could buy and sell us despite never having set foot in an office in their adult lives -- but life as a reality star can actually be quite demanding.

The Duggar Family: A Photo

And as the Duggar family is now learning the hard way, it's particularly tough on young people.

According to a new report from Radar Online, the Jim Bob and Michelle's offspring have essentially formed a union.

Their sole demand?

No more round-the-clock filming.

Yes, apparently, the Jana, Jill, Jessa, et al. are fed up with living their lives in the presence of a camera crew.

Duggar Family: Counting On Season 4 Photo

They don't want to give up the gig entirely, mind you -- it still beats the hell out of punching the clock at a 9 to 5, after all -- they're just sick of feeling like slaves to Counting On's demanding production schedule.

"The kids just don’t want to be in front of the cameras 24/7,” one insider tells Radar.

“They have a big break in between filming to carry on with their lives."

Apparently, the driving force behind this mini-mutiny is second-eldest son John David Duggar.

Duggar Family Photo: A Classic!

John David is currently courting Abbie Burnett, and it seems he doesn't want his first romantic relationship to be painstakingly documented by a full camera crew.

At first, it seems, he kept his relationship on the down-low, and now that it's out in the open, he insists that he and Abbie be allowed some time away from the cameras.

“John David kept his relationship quiet and hidden so he could enjoy time without press,” says the source.

The other Duggars, apparently inspired by his example, have reportedly also demanded more private time.

Duggars: Counting On Cast Photo

But if you're concerned about the future of Counting On, fear not.

The insider says the Duggar kids are planning to keep working for TLC for the foreseeable future.

“They will keep doing the show for a while,” the source says.

Sounds like they have at least a few more seasons left in them.

But just to be safe, you might want to watch Counting On online while you still can.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar to Derick Dillard: Stop Being So Homophobic!

By now, we're all very familiar with the very strict courting rules that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar apply to all their children.

No kissing before marriage. No public displays of affection at all. No revealing outfits. And so on and so forth.

But a new report also indicates that the couple is trying to impose a pretty simple rule on son-in-law Derick Dillard, and it goes something like this:

Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar on Vacation

SHUT THE EFF UP WITH ALL YOUR HOMOPHOBIC TWEETS AND COMMENTS!

According to Radar Online, it's not necessarily that Jim Bob and Michelle disagree with many of Dillard's most controversial opinions...

... it's that he voices these opinions on social media and makes everyone associated with him look terrible as a result.

“Everything that Derick has said has caused the family bad press,” says a Radar insider.

The whole Duggar family, especially the famous matriarch and patriarch, are now “pissed off” about it, this source continued.

Dillard's run of open intolerance started about a year ago when he constantly dragged transgender reality star Jazz Jennings on Twitter.

His comments have included how bring "'transgender is a myth," and that "gender is not fluid; it's ordained by God."

Derick Dillard on Social Media

Despite Jennings never really responding to these offensive remarks and always taking the high road when asked about Dillard, Derick has continued with the attacks.

In response to Jazz undergoing gender confirmation surgery, for example, Dillard blasted this procedure as a form of child abuse.

TLC fired Derick months ago for being a bigoted jerk and relatives such as Jeremy Vuolo have seemingly hurled shade in his direction as well.

Most recently, Dillard offers online praise to a baker who refused to make a gay wedding cake.

The Radar Online insider says that Dillard’s in-laws have attempted to respect the fact that Derick is married to Jill, but they have decided to confront him because “they don’t like what he is doing.”

It's one thing to simply possess the views espoused by Dillard.

It's another to drag his relatives down with him as he publicizes each and every one of them.

Derick Dillard and Jazz Jennings

The source explains to Radar that the Duggars are concerned about “what he says and how he says it.”

And this message has possibly gotten across because Dillard has made his Twitter account private, while tampering down his most controversial of takes of late.

We have no doubt he's still hugely homophobic, but he's seemingly realized that it's been causing him personal and professional distress to shout this fact from the virtual rooftops.

Maybe if he can learn that fact, he can someday learn those in the LGBT community are just regular people and that one's sexual preference has nothing to do with what type of person one is and...

... sorry, nevermind.

There's a better chance of Jim Bob and Michelle encouraging their kids to engage in premarital sex than there is of this happening.

Jill Duggar Rocks Swimwear

Dillard married Jill Duggar on June 21, 2014.

The couple are parents to a three-year old son named Israel and a one-year old son named Samuel.

We hear that he may soon start attending law school in Arkansas, which would be an interesting move for him, huh?

Anyway, the guy is close-minded and ignorant and sucks a lot.

Anyone care to disagree?

Jim Bob Duggar: Ladies, Here’s How to Keep Your Husband Happy

For most people, Jim Bob Duggar is up there with O.J. Simpson on the list of people who are least qualified to dole out relationship advice.

But some folks look at old JBD as a romantic role model.

After all, if your goal is to sire a small army and then make a bunch of weirdly strict rules governing how they're allowed to use their own genitals, the Duggar patriarch is your man.

Jim Bob and Michelle celebrated another wedding anniversary this week, and they decided to flip the script by giving a gift to fans in the form of preachy marital advice.

So put on your tapered jeans or your floor-length skirt and allow Jim Bob to school you in the ways of romance:

1. Laying Down the Law

Michelle duggar and jim bob duggar
Jim Bob began his latest sermon by listing the seven things that every man needs from his wife. Somehow, "crimped fright-wig hair" didn't make the list.

2. A man needs a wife who is loyal and supportive

Jim bob and michelle duggar divorce photo
We guess this one is self-explanatory. Unfortunately, Jim Bob never taught his sons the importance of being loyal and supportive, right, Josh Duggar?

3. A man needs a wife who honors his leadership

Jim bob duggar and michelle duggar on vacation
As for this one ... well, it's anyone's guess what the hell this means. All we know is that it sounds super cult-y, and the Duggars love them a good cult mentality.

4. A man needs a wife who develops inward and outward beauty.

Michelle duggar cheerleader photo
We suppose this one was inevitable. Ladies, Jim Bob wants you to stay hot for your man. And remember, there's no plastic surgery for inner beauty.

5. A man needs a wife who will make appeals, not demands.

Michelle jim bob baby
As in, she appeals to you to stop issuing so many freakin' demands. Like there aren't enough rules for the Duggars to follow already.

6. A man needs a wife who understands his need for time alone with God

Jim bob and michelle duggar kiss
"God" is a versatile term here. It can mean the monotheistic deity of the Abrahamic religions, or the stack of Playboys you keep in the shed.

Duggar Kids: Getting Married to Escape Jim Bob?

With few exceptions, Duggar children usually marry young and start having children almost immediately after getting hitched.

The main reason for this is that Jim Bob and Michelle's offspring are taught from a young age that they were put on this planet to do two things, and the things only -- worship and make babies.

Jessa, Ben ... and Jim Bob

But lately, fans have noticed something strange about the two main Duggar pastimes.

It seems the more the adult Duggar children have been devoting more of their attention to the latter, and less to the former.

Obviously, we have no idea how much time on these people are spending on their knees in the bedroom.

(We're talking about praying! Get your mind out of the gutter!)

But thanks to the Duggars' tendency to over-share on social media, we have a pretty good idea of how much time they spend in church.

Jim Bob and Johannah

And as hard as it is to envision a Duggar skipping Sunday services, it seems that's exactly what they've been doing lately.

First, it was reported that John David Duggar has been skipping church ever since he began courting Abbie Burnett.

Now, it seems other coupled-up Duggars are following in John David's footsteps.

“They’re always missing from church when they’ve started dating,” a source close to the family tells Radar Online.

Now, it's possible that the Duggars who are in relationships have simply decided to attend services at their partners' church.

Jim Bob Duggar Eye Roll

But even if that's the case, Jim Bob would likely view the decision as a betrayal.

He's previously stated that he believes worshipping is the most important thing a family can do together.

And the Duggars are famous for their elaborate Sunday ritual.

They usually arrive at church early so that they be there to greet the other parishioners.

Afterward, the whole community gathers at the Duggar compound for a “pot-faith” luncheon.

“Because Jim Bob doesn’t believe in luck,” says the source.

Jim Bob and Joy-Anna Duggar

Yeesh. That alone would be reason enough for his kids to skip out on the whole thing.

But as lame as they probably find their father's extreme piety, the Duggar kids would likely be hesitant to stop attending services with Jim Bob -- unless they hoped to send him a message.

Reports of Duggar kids rebelling against Jim Bob's overbearing ways have been everywhere lately, and it seems they may have decided as a group to take action in hopes of making it clear just how strongly they feel.

It's a risky gambit.

And it could lead to the unraveling of the Duggar clan as we know it.

Jana Duggar: Secretly Dating "Best Friend" Laura DeMasie?

The news that John David Duggar is courting Abbie Burnett has revived interest in Counting On fans' very favorite question:

Namely, why is it that Jana Duggar is still single?

Jana Duggar: A Pic

Jana is only 28, but in the Duggars' world, that's dangerously close to old maid territory.

Jana and her sisters were taught from a young age that procreation is second only to praisin' the lawd on the list of a woman's reasons for being.

While her siblings took that lesson to heart, with most of them marrying young and getting pregnant on their honeymoons, Jana has chosen a different path.

From what we've seen, that path mostly involves helping to care for her younger siblings, and lots and lots of gardening.

But if a new fan theory is to be believed, Jana's existence isn't quite as lonely as we've been led to believe.

Laura DeMasie Photo

If you're a longtime Duggar aficionado, then you might recognize Jana's longtime friend Laura Demasie.

Jana and Laura have been so close for so long that Demasie has even helped Jana with the homeschooling of her younger siblings.

So perhaps it should come as no surprise that many Duggar fans now suspect that Jana and Laura are more than just friends.

The subject is a common topic of discussion on Duggar-focused message boards on Reddit.

Many point to Jim Bob Duggar's cryptic 2017 comment that Jana “preferred the company of women" as evidence.

Jana Duggar and Laura DeMasie

It certainly sounds suggestive, but we're pretty sure Jim Bob didn't mean to imply that Jana might be gay.

We say that not because she's definitely not gay, but because we highly doubt Jim Bob would ever publicly acknowledge that fact if she were.

It's no secret that several Duggar children have rebelled against Jim Bob's authoritarian rule in recent years.

But women wearing pants instead of floor-length skirts is one thing -- coming out as homosexual would be quite another.

Hard it is to believe in 2018, there are still families that consider being gay to be a disownable offense.

Jana Duggar is Awesome

And the Duggars are one of them.

Sadly, if Jana and Laura were actually in a relationship, they would likely be forced to keep it a secret for the rest of their days.

Even if the rumors about Jana were true and she wanted to come out she would likely realize that doing so would lead Jim Bob to force all of his other children to cut ties with her.

And for someone as family-oriented as Jana, that would be tantamount to a death sentence.

As if any of us needed another reason to dislike Jim Bob.

Duggar Brainwashing Scandal: Are Rebellious Kids Being "Reprogrammed"?!

One rarely sees a critique of the Duggar family that doesn't include the word "cult."

And it's easy to see why all but the family's most diehard fans are able to recognize that their particular brand of fundamentalist Southern Baptism bears many of the hallmark distinctions of a dangerous band of zealots.

The Duggar Family: A Photo

For example, the Duggars are wary of outsiders.

Dissent and rebellion are not tolerated within their ranks and are swiftly dealt with, often with harsh punishments.

Women are subservient to men and are forced to adhere to strict regulations regarding their clothing and conduct.

They participate in ritualistic animal sacrifices in order to appease their fertility god, Ra'aa'al.

Okay, we may have made that last one up, but you get the point.

The Institute for Basic Life Principles -- the organization that's provided the basis for the Duggars' controversial belief system -- is pretty unabashed in its cultishness, and the Duggars proudly live their lives according to the teachings of its disgraced founder Bill Gothard.

Michelle, Jim Bob, Baby

So make of that what you will.

Anyone who's escaped a cult will tell you that discipline is the glue that holds such groups together, and anyone who's ever been a teenager knows that perpetually cheerful dispositions and voluntary celibacy are two things that do not come naturally to the pubescent set.

And yet we don't hear much about how the Duggars discipline their older children.

We know about such controversial practices as "blanket training" for younger children, but surely even a practice as severe as striking toddlers with blunt objects wouldn't be enough to foster a lifetime of blind obedience.

In fact, one would think that in many cases it would cause children to lash out in their teen years.

So why don't we ever hear about Jim Bob and Michelle grounding their children or forcing them to go to bed without devouring a steam tray full of deep-fried Crisco first?

Duggar Family: Counting On Season 4 Photo

Well, according to a new report from Life & Style, it's because rebellious Duggar teens aren't published -- they're quietly sent away to be "re-programmed."

Josiah Duggar is the most recent victim of this practice, but he's far from the first.

Josiah is said to be the most rebellious Duggar boy, and Jim Bob reportedly attempted to suppress this streak by sending him away for an extra long stint at a secretive IBLP facility known as the ALERT Academy.

Joe and Jeremiah also did time in the clandestine boot camp-like program, but they weren't there for nearly as long as Josiah, who was gone from the Duggar compound for much of 2013 and 2014.

When he returned, Jim Bob must have been satisfied with the results, as Josiah was promptly tossed into a courtship with Marjorie Jackson.

Josiah Duggar Interview Pic

Unfortunately, it must have been too much too soon, as Josiah and Marjorie broke up after just a few weeks of dating -- a move that's almost unheard of in Duggar courtships.

After that, Josiah once again "kept a low profile" for several months.

But it's not just Duggar boys who are shipped off to receive the Clockwork Orange treatment when they show signs of independent thought.

Girls serve their time in the equally controversial Journey of the Heart program.

Jana Duggar was sent there in her youth, and she returned as exactly the sort of docile super-servant her parents needed.

"Jana used to be very outgoing," John-David once remarked of the change in her personality.

"Whenever she was younger, she was very rowdy."

Jana and Jessa Hash It Out

A rowdy young woman?

Well, we can't have that, now can we?

Of course, the most frequently brainwashed Duggar is Josh, who was shipped off to ALERT after he was caught molesting five young girls.

As an adult, the treatment was repeated at a faith-based in-patient facility for sex addicts that's been described as a prison-like workcamp.

In Josh's case, such treatment is actually deserved.

Unfortunately, the cerebral scrub-down wasn't enough to keep from acting like Arkansas' answer to Harvey Weinstein.

Jim Bob Duggar Accused of Manipulating Daughters’ Love Lives

Even the most ardent defender of Jim Bob Duggar (if such a thing exists) would likely concede that the best word to describe the reality star's involvement in his daughters' love lives is "creepy."

Don't get us wrong, JB exercises far too much control over his son's lives, as well (except, of course, in Josh's case, but that's a conversation for another time).

Jessa, Ben ... and Jim Bob

When it comes to the girls in the family, however, it's no exaggeration to say "you can't date a Duggar daughter without dating her dad."

That's the frighteningly accurate fashion in which columnist Mary Grace Garis describes the situation in a piece published by In Touch Weekly today.

Whether you're a fan of the family's reality show or you tune in each week with a pair of Clockwork Orange eye clamps affixed firmly to your lids out of morbid curiosity, you're no doubt familiar with the Duggar's courtship rules.

The parts of the process that get the most attention have to do with the lengths to which Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar will go in order to ensure their children don't engage in anything that remotely resembling premarital sex.

Unmarried Duggar couples are not allowed kiss, hold hands for more than a few seconds, "front hug," (lest their clothed genitals should come in close proximity), or even be alone together.

Jim Bob, Michelle, Jessa and Ben Seewald

Frightening stuff, to be sure, but the way Jim Bob puts these young people through the emotional wringer is arguably just as damaging.

The Duggars have boasted in the past about how potential suitors have to get through dad before they're permitted to spend any time with his daughters.

"The girls have always said they would send any guy who was interested in them to Dad," Michelle has said in the past.

"That’s a good thing – that is such good protection for them."

And this isn't just a case of JB sitting the guy down and asking about his intentions.

No, Jim Bob makes men who are interested in one his daughters fill out 50-page questionnaire before he'll consider the possibility of a courtship.

Austin Forsyth, Joy-Anna Duggar, Michelle Duggar, and Jim Bob Duggar

The first guy to endure this treatment was Derick Dillard -- but he turned out to be an all-time douche, so he really didn't receive much sympathy from Counting On viewers.

Disturbingly, Jim Bob's behavior has only gotten worse over the years, as evidenced by his contentious relationship with Jeremy Vuolo, husband of Jinger Duggar.

Fans were baffled at the time, as Jeremy seemed to be the least problematic of all the men who had married Jim Bob's daughters up to that point.

But it all began to make sense when Jinger rebelled against her father by leaving her home state or Arkansas and -- gasp!  -- wearing pants!

Jim Bob must have figured out early on that Jeremy believed in such far-left ideas as allowing women free will.

And in the end, the situation served as a reminder that suppressing the rights of women is the main driver behind so many of Jim Bob's actions.

Michelle Duggar Defends Treating Children Like Servants: They Love It!

If you're a fan of her family's reality show, then you're probably aware that Michelle Duggar is a mother of 20.

(She and husband Jim Bob adopted their nephew, Tyler Duggar last year.)

It's true that no one in their right mind would dispute the fact that Michelle is mother to a genuinely insane number of children -- but there's some disagreement regarding just how much how much mothering she's actually done.

Duggar, Michelle

Yes, depending on how closely you pay attention to the Duggars' social media accounts and Michelle's comments on child-rearing, you might fall into one of two schools of thought regarding her skills as a mother:

There are those who feel she's the uber-mom, named not for her weekend ride-sharing gig, but for her astonishing ability to attend to the needs of double-digit offspring without letting the least of her children feel left out.

And then there are those who believe that Michelle is essentially running a child-rearing sweatshop or pyramid scheme, essentially passing off the demands of the household to her oldest kids, who then burden the younger kids with those duties once they've been properly trained.

And what does Michelle have to say about these controversial practices?

Well, as the folks at In Touch Weekly point out, she just can't imagine why anyone would have a problem with her division of labor.

Michelle Ruark

"The little ones love to help," Michelle once stated.

"They have such a servant's heart."

Yes, there's nothing kids love quite as much as being servants.

Fortunately for Michelle, it seems all 20 of her children have the exact same disposition and none of them would prefer to be outside playing with their friends or otherwise being children.

The Duggars are taught from a young age that chores are second only to procreating on the list of acceptable activities to be engaged in when Jesus comes back.

As such, when they take on a new responsibility because the previous laborer left the nest or simply became too decrepit, a sacred torch has been passed.

Jordyn Duggar Does Laundry

That's 9-year-old Jordyn Duggar doing her first load of laundry.

The family made a congratulatory video to mark the occasion of her completed training.

Jordyn inherited the duty from Joy-Anna Duggar, who in turn inherited it from her grandmother.

"This is my jurisdiction, Grandma washes it all and I do put it away and...do the shoes," Joy-Anna once remarked in one of the Duggars' YouTube videos.

To ensure that all of the tasks around the Duggar compound are properly completed, the family has designed a strictly-enforced system of rewards and punishments.

An important part of this system is the chore pack, explained in the video below by top enforcer Jana Duggar:

Yes, when they're finished with their chore pack, the Duggar kids report not to their parents, but to their older siblings.

It's a system that brings to mind the prison practice of allowing more seasoned inmates to run the cafeteria instead of the guards.

It also might help to explain why Duggar children are so quick to start families of their own and fly the coop.

Perhaps Joy-Anna Duggar married Austin Forsyth at 19 because she fell madly in love ... but even if that's the case, the possibility of escaping laundry duty may have also factored into her decision.

And why would Jana Duggar remain single and resign herself to such brutal conditions?

Well, there's something to be said for being at the top of the hierarchy -- as well as for the power of Stockholm Syndrome.

Jim Bob Duggar: Using Money to Control His Family?

We all know that Jim Bob Duggar likes to maintain control of his massive family. Religion, isolation, and allegedly abuse are parts of that.

Another part may be his wealth. Fans believe that he has a strategy to keep his married children from straying too far.

Are fans right? Is he bribing his adult children to stay close to home in Arkansas?

Jim Bob Duggar: Father of the Groom

As we all know, Jim Bob's grand design for humanity involves women not working except as obedient wives, dutiful mothers, and reality stars.

In this economy, after a couple of decades of wage stagnation, supporting a massive family of children on only one income can be positively brutal.

But fans think that they know how married Duggar children remain afloat despite the expenses of life.

It's more than just asking daddy -- sorry, their father and former owner -- for a handout.

They suspect that he uses the money to control them. Specifically, to control where they live.

Let's look at a few examples. We'll start, of course, with the worst of the batch.

Josh Duggar, Anna Duggar, and Kids in 2017

By the worst, we of course mean Josh Duggar, whose recent return to social media did not go over well.

When Josh Duggar married Anna, Jim Bob rewarded that ill-fated (and yet still enduring) union.

Josh and Anna moved into a house in Fayetville that had belonged to Grandma Mary.

That house was only 15 minutes by car from the Duggar compound. But Johs and Anna didn't stay there forever.

Josh got a job with the Family Research Council, which the Southern Poverty Law Center designates as a hate group, To do that job, he moved to Maryland.

When news broke that Josh had molested 5 little girls, including his own sisters, that his family had covered it up, and that he had cheated on his wife, he lost his job.

Josh and his family now live in Siloam Springs, which is about 20 minutes away from Jim Bob.

Derick Dillard With Jill Duggar on Instagram

Now, we know that there isn't the clearest connection between Jim Bob and their move back home.

Maybe Josh wanted to be around the only people who wanted anything to do with him -- which happens to include a few of his former victims.

But Jill was the next to get married. She tied the knot with notorious homophobe Derick Dillard in 2014.

After they were married, Jim Bob allowed them to reside in his 4,000 square foot, 4-bedroom $1.5 million "mini-mansion" property.

Many fans believed that this "gift" may have been intended as a leash to keep the couple close to home.

It is unclear if they had to pay rent or not, though Derick has implied that they did. Now that they have returned from their misadventurous mission trip in South America, they are living closer to where Derick went to school.

Jessa, Ben and Family

Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald have lived in the Fayetville home that was once inhabited by Josh and Anna.

In fact, Jim bob surprised Jessa and Ben by renovating the property while they were on their honeymoon.

They must have been happy with it, because they have lived there for the past three-and-a-half years.

Ultimately, they ended up paying Grandma Mary just one dollar for the home.

(So that's how Millennials can save up to buy a house -- just have rich relatives who give one away!)

Joy-Anna Duggar Due Date Photo

Not everyone seems to live on Jim Bob's dime, however.

Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth lived in an RV, if you can imagine ... but only while a property that Austin already owned was rennovated.

When Gideon was born, they went ahead and moved in, even though the house remained a fixer-upper.

In the mean time, 28-year-old John David, 28-year-old Jana, and 18-year-old Jason are already homeowners ... but Jim Bob does not permit them to live away from "home" until they are married.

Not everyone is a denizen of Arkansas, however.

Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo have put down roots in Texas.

Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Throwback

So ... are fans right?

We would never accuse Jim Bob of being a nice person or a good parent, but it sounds like he provides his married children with homes when they need them.

He might use any financial support as a means of control, but he uses all kinds of methods to control his family.

Nothing about the real estate uses strikes us as particularly devious or unusual for a family with the means that the Duggars possess.

But ... we never know what conversations take place behind the scenes. Fans may still be right.

The Duggars don't talk about money that much, but they definitely care about it.

Amy Duggar: I’ve Been Kicked Out of My Own Family!

We're about to take you back to the dark days before Josiah Duggar began rebelling against his father's strict rules and harsh disciplinary tactics.

We're talking way, way back to a time when no Duggar women wore pants -- a time when if you wanted to find someone with the last name Duggar who wasn't completely under Jim Bob's thumb, you had to leave the Tontitown compound and travel to the Fayetteville home of Ms. Amy Duggar-King.

Newer fans of the family might not even remember cousin Amy, as her role in the Duggar media empire has been severely diminished in recent years.

And sources say that's no accident.

According to Radar Online, Amy Duggar is now forbidden to publicly associate with her famous aunt, uncle, and cousins in any way.

She reportedly was not invited to Josiah Duggar's bachelor party that took place over the weekend, and she does not expect to be invited to his wedding.

Furthermore, Amy has been asked to remove all photos of her cousins from her social media accounts and to refrain from speaking with the press about Jim Bob, Michelle, or their offspring.

In effect, like Josh Duggar before her, Amy has been exiled from the famous branch of her family.

“Amy is not allowed to talk about the Duggars anymore,” a source tells Radar.

“Amy went through her Instagram and had to delete all the pictures she had with her cousins."

Insiders say Amy is heartbroken by the request, and despite her considerable humiliation she "still loves" her entire family.

Of course, this isn't the first time that there have been reports of serious strain in Amy's relationship with Jim Bob.

When Amy married Dillon King back in 2015, the Duggars attended the ceremony but left the reception almost immediately, per Jim Bob's orders.

The father of 20 was reportedly upset by the fact that his niece had decided to allow alcohol and dancing at her wedding.

In a 2016 interview, Amy revealed that she's only allowed to see her cousins at their home in Tontitown, as they've been forbidden from going to visit her in Fayetteville.

“It’s a rule," she said at the time.

"f I want to spend quality time with them, I have to come see them.”

Insiders say that even though Amy has long known that Jim Bob does not approve of her lifestyle, she's stunned by the latest steps he's taken to cut ties with her completely.

Asked to comment on the situation by Radar today, Amy replied simply, “No comment.”

We'll have further information on this developing story as more information becomes available.

In the meantime, watch Counting On online to relive Amy's contentious relationship with her famous uncle.

Josh Duggar: Using Fake Names to Scam Fans Out of Money?!

Back in 2015, news of the Josh Duggar sex scandals shook fans to their core and threatened to bring an end to the Duggar family's media empire.

Remarkably, three years later, life has pretty much returned to normal for the Duggars -- with the notable exception of Josh, of course.

Anna, Josh Duggar

While his parents and siblings made a rather smooth transition back to the spotlight, Josh remains exiled from both fans and his family.

Currently, Josh works on a used car lot owned by his father, and he lives several miles away from the neighborhood in Tontitown, Arkansas that most of them call home.

Of course, the clearest indicator of the rift between the former lobbyist and the rest of his family might be that Josh no longer worships at the Duggar family church.

Josh is reportedly in dire financial straits, as he attempts to raise five children on a car lot attendant's salary and with little financial help from his wealthy family.

But that's just one of the reasons that fans are wary of Josh's latest "fundraising" efforts.

Anna and Josh Duggar: Bible Launch Event in D.C.

Josh returned to Facebook this week with little fanfare, and he's apparently on a mission.

Thus far, Josh's activity on the site has been extremely limited:

As In Touch Weekly points out, he changed his profile picture to a photo of his son Matthew -- and he announced that he'll be raising money for two family friends who were involved in a car accident.

Of course, this is Josh Duggar we're talking about, so it wasn't long before fans noticed something deeply suspicious about his philanthropic efforts.

As one Facebook user quickly pointed out, the fundraiser that Josh is encouraging fans to contribute to was apparently started by someone named Janie Williams.

Anna, Josh Duggar Pic

The only problem there is the fact that Janie doesn't appear to be a real person.

"Both names are listed on the GoFundMe as running the campaign," the fan wrote on Facebook.

"When I click on Janie's name, it led me to Josh's profile," she continued.

"I can see Josh using the common [names] Janie/Joe and common last [names] Williams/Smith to try [and] hide. I [don't see] a Janie Williams listed as a friend on Josh's page."

Yes, it appears that Josh has constructed yet another alias for himself.

In the past, he's been caught using the name Joe Smithson on social media.

Anna, Josh Duggar Photo

And of course, there was the fake Ashley Madison profile that Josh used to try and cheat on his wife.

So what exactly is going on here?

Well, it's tough to say, but the Duggars have a long history of begging fans for money under suspicious pretenses.

Now, it looks like Josh is attempting to supplement his meager income with a little light fraud.

All in a day's work for one of the shadiest figures west of the Mississippi.

Duggar Family Courtship Questionnaire: Revealed! Bizarre!

One of the most heavily-scrutinized aspects of life in the Duggar clan is the courtship process by which young people find suitable spouses.

Casual dating, premarital sex, and divorce are all forbidden in the Duggars' world, so there's a lot riding on every courtship.

Despite all that, the process moves fast -- very fast.

Often, Duggars get engaged just a few weeks after they begin courting, and they're married a few weeks after that.

So perhaps it shouldn't come as a surprise that the family has its mate selection protocol down to a science.

Thanks to the folks over at Free Jinger, as of today, we know more about the process than ever before, and as you might expect, the whole thing is intensely creepy.

Without further ado, here are some of the more bizarre highlights from the list of 423 questions (!!!) that are presented to potential Duggar suitors.

It's believed that both male and female courtship partners are forced to fill out the questionnaire, and of course, the responses are reviewed by Jim Bob himself:

1. Do you ever seek advice from others?

Jinger duggar vuolo and jeremy vuolo
This is the very first question in the very first section, entitled "Life Influences". If your answer is anything other than "the lord and savior JC," ya best just keep it moving.

2. Who were your role models and heroes? For what reasons?

Joy anna duggar and austin forsyth on counting on
We're still under the "Life Influences" heading here. Again, if you're answer doesn't start wth "J" and end wth "-esus of Nazareth," then don't let the door hit you.

3. You are the result of the influence of which people?

Josiah duggar and lauren swanson image
Is it us, or is this just a weird way of repeating the previous question? The list is 423 questions long, JB, maybe you could trim the fat a little.

4. What personality traits and/or strengths do you see in women/men you know that you would desire for your wife/husband to possess?

Jessa duggar pregnant pic
This one provides a great opportunity to troll Jim Bob with an answer like "the ability to shotgun a 12-pack of Bud Light Limes on a nude beach in San Tropez."

5. What do you read?

Jana duggar smirk
Obviously, this is 100 percent a trap question. The Bible is the only answer that won't have you cast out like Satan himself. Feel free to answer "the Harry Potter series" if you want to see steam shoot from a grown man's ears.

6. Would you be willing to die for Christ? If you're not dying daily, how can you be so sure you would then?

Duggar sisters counting on
Now we're in the "Spiritual Life" section, and we think it's safe to say things will be getting a lot more abstract from here on out. It's okay to encourage your spouse to engage in a certain activity every day, but it should be something like making homemade mac and cheese ... not, ya know, dying.

Duggar Family: Response to Arkansas Abortion Law Stuns Fans

Earlier today, the Supreme Court cleared the way for the nation's most restrictive anti-abortion law to go into effect.

The justices declined to hear an appeal against the Arkansas law, which would severely limit the ability of doctors to provide medication-induced abortions to their patients.

The law has been the subject of intense debate on social media, and many are wondering what the state's most famous abortion opponents have to say.

Michelle, Jim Bob, Baby

But surprisingly, thus far, the Duggars have been silent on the matter.

Yes, despite previously comparing abortion to the Holocaust and spearheading fundraising efforts for anti-choice protesters, not one of the Duggars has commented on today's developments.

The silence, of course, speaks volumes, and both fans and critics alike are wondering when and how the family will finally make a statement.

The Duggars have a long history of political engagement, and they've gone on record as saying they won't be satisfied until abortion is prohibited on a federal level.

So while they likely don't view today's ruling as a total victory, they almost certainly see it as a major step in the right direction.

The Duggar Family: A Photo

Most surprising of all is the fact that Jill Duggar's husband, Derick Dillard, has not yet spoken out on the matter.

Dillard's controversial political views have made him a divisive figure in recent months.

In November of 2017, Dillard was fired from the Duggar's reality show, Counting On, after making statements that many construed as transphobic on Twitter.

Jill quit the show as a gesture of solidarity, and Derick's views have lurched even more to the far-right in the time since his business relationship with TLC came to an abrupt end.

It was widely expected that Derick would have much to say about today's events, but thus far, he's keeping his views to himself.

In the meantime, others are making their voices heard on the matter.

Jill M. Duggar and Derick Dillard

"Arkansas is now shamefully responsible for being the first state to ban medication abortion," Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said in a statement issued this afternoon.

"This dangerous law also immediately ends access to safe, legal abortion at all but one health center in the state. If that's not an undue burden, what is?" she added.

"This law cannot and must not stand. We will not stop fighting for every person's right to access safe, legal abortion."

Laguens points out that if the law is permitted to take effect, two of the three facilities that perform abortions in Arkansas would likely be forced to close.

On the other side of the political spectrum is Family Council Executive Director Jerry Cox, who issued a statement in support of the law:

Joy-Anna, Austin and Gideon

"This is very good news for people who care about the safety of women in Arkansas," Cox said adding:

"This is a pro-life victory not only for the women of Arkansas, but for women across the nation. I'm sure other states will be looking at Arkansas and considering following our example."

Today's development comes on the heels of attempts by Arkansas lawmakers to institute a ban on abortions after the 12-week mark of a pregnancy.

That effort was blocked by a federal appeals court.

We'll continue to be on the lookout for the official Duggar response to today's appeal rejection.

John David Duggar: First in His Family to Quit Reality TV?!

In recent weeks, there's been much talk of the small-scale rebellion taking place within the Duggar family.

Fans seem to be convinced that it all started when Jinger Duggar began wearing pants in direct defiance of her family's famously strict dress code.

John David Duggar: A Photo

According to this increasingly popular narrative, other Duggar kids then followed in Jinger's footsteps.

Among them? The newly-engaged Josiah Duggar, who - according to a source close to the family - is widely expected to be "the next [Duggar] to bust out."

But this version of events overlooks the original Duggar rebel.

The one who's been rejecting elements of his father's lifestyle so quietly and for so long that he his insurgence went mostly unnoticed.

Do you even know who we mean? We're talking, of course, about the Silent Duggar himself, John David Duggar.

Jim Bob, John David and Josh Duggar

Even if you've been watching the family's reality shows from day one, you may not know much about JDD.

And what you do know has probably been filtered through the always-formidable Duggar PR machine:

John David is Michelle and Jim Bob's second-oldest son, the twin brother of fan favorite Jana Duggar.

From a professional standpoint, he's the most active of all the Duggars, working as a pilot, firefighter and sheriff's deputy in his free time.

And it seems it's the duties of that last post that have brought John David into conflict with his domineering dad.

As we reported earlier exclusively, he's been at odds with the family patriarch for some time, albeit privately.

Jim Bob's efforts to control the town he lives in by purchasing both large tracts of land and politicians reportedly don't sit well with John David.

He's sworn to uphold law and order, after all.

Add to that the widespread reports that John David is disgusted by Jim Bob's greed, and you have a recipe for a legitimate family feud.

It's not hard to see why so many are convinced the 28-year-old has already begun distancing himself from his family's social media empire.

John David and Jana Duggar Photo

Interestingly, in a recent interview, John David has confirmed that he will appear in the new season of Counting On, which premieres this summer.

But he would not comment on his future on the show beyond that.

Instead, when asked about his future, he mostly focused on faith and family. John David remarked:

“Future plans would be to, I think, one day, you know, the Lord will bring the right one along, and I’ll start a family."

"I'll hopefully be able to invest in their lives and raise up a generation that will be great people for this society."

The comment has fueled speculation that John David is courting, though we cannot indepedently confirm that he is (or isn't).

If true, that may have influenced his decision to be the first in his family to willingly leave the world of TLC behind.

Whatever the case, we wouldn't be surprised in the least if John David is actually the first to "bust out" on his own.

As always, you can watch Counting On online for more on reality TV's largest and most controversial family.

There's never a dull moment. Well, actually, there are a lot of dull moments, but also some intriguing storylines.

Duggar Family at War With Gay Cousin Over New Reality Show

The Duggars, as you're likely aware, are a deeply conservative lot.

The core group of 21 who make up the Duggar clan that was first immortalized on 19 Kids and Counting have contended with friends and relatives who don't share their fundamentalist beliefs, and they've typically been quick to "deal with" these associates.

Duggar Family: Counting On Season 4 Photo

Michelle Duggar's lesbian sister, for example, has been cut off from the rest of the family and has never even met most of her nieces and nephews.

They similarly exiled rebellious cousin Amy Duggar, who's dared to commit such affronts as kissing her fiancé before marriage and wearing an actual swimsuit to go swimming, rather than a modesty-preserving barrel with suspenders.

Now, the Duggars are facing yet another enemy in their midst.

And this one is hoping to beat Jim Bob and company at their own game.

As we reported earlier, John Andrew Studdard is an openly gay cousin of Jim Bob and Michelle's children.

Unlike so many of the Duggars' relatives, he seems to have no fear of his wealthy and powerful aunt and uncle.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar: NOT Divorced!

Studdard has spoken out against Derick Dillard's homophobic remarks, and now it appears he's hoping to enter the Duggars' arena with a reality show of his own.

And not surprisingly, the Duggars are very much hoping that doesn't happen.

“The producers were hoping to do a show with his immediate family, but all of his immediate family declined,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online.

“They think it’s tacky that John Andrew spoke out about Derick’s beliefs and have warned him if he speaks out publicly again he will be cut off financially.”

But those who know Studdard best say that his main goal is not to simply trash his famous relatives:

“He wants to show his life with his friends and the volunteer work he’s passionate about,” the insider said.

Duggar Family Photo: A Classic!

“He wants to build a platform to spread awareness for causes. He wants to build an empire bigger than his distant cousins.”

Surprisingly, it seems Studdard actually feels compassion for his famous cousins - and he wishes they would follow his lead by showing more empathy toward others:

“He doesn’t think they’re bad people,” the insider says.

“He spoke out against Derick because he wanted him to be considerate of others. His comments were very harsh. He doesn’t know him well enough to say he’s a bad person. He was so kind at his wedding to Jill.”

Studdard may have a hard time landing a deal for a show where he presents a counter-argument to his relatives' worldview, but here's hoping he finds a way to get his message out there.

It would certainly help to shake things up in Tontitown.
