Taylor Swift Returns! See Her First TV Performance in 3 Years!

In a powerful and candid Instagram post this week, Taylor Swift urged citizens to take action next month and vote in the midterm elections.

Not long afterwards, the singer took an action herself that she had not taken in three years:

She performed on stage at an awards show.

Indeed, Swift opened the 2018 American Music Awards on Tuesday night with a rendition of "I Did Something Bad," reminding viewers everywhere that she deserves the honor she would later win at the ceremony.

(Swift was named Artist of the Year and, in the process, became the most decorated female artist in American Music Awards history.)

The 28-year-old pop sensation donned a sparkly long-sleeve leotard with over-the-knee leather black boots for her wildly-anticipated performance.

She also brought the drama with smoke and a giant snake (!!!!!!!) - which has been her Reputation tour logo and which has been a response to being called a snake years ago by Kim Kardashian - behind her on stage.

It was clear those in attendance were psyched to have Swift back in their lives.

"They’re burning all the witches, even if you aren’t one/They got their pitchforks and proof,” Swift sings in the featured track.

Having received some criticism from Republicans for not supporting any of their candidates in her aforementioned social media message, Swift did not back down at the AMAs.

In her Artist of the Year acceptance speech, she didn't take any side... but she did remain political.

“Thank you so much for this," she said on stage, adding:

"And I just wanted to make a mention of the fact that this award, and every single award given out tonight, were voted on by the people. And you know what else is voted on by the people?

"The midterm elections on 6 November. Get out and vote – I love you guys.”

And we love you, Taylor.

We hope this was not a temporary return to the spotlight.

Check out her performance now!

People REALLY Don’t Wanna See Maroon 5 at the Super Bowl

Adam Levine is undeniably a good looking man.

And he has an outstanding voice.

But these traits are apparently not enough to prompt any excitement from NFL fans over the selection of Levine's band at the Super Bowl 2019 halftime act.

Upon Maroon 5 being confirmed as the headliner for the big game, which will take place on February 3 in Atlanta, social media users expressed their annoyance and dismay.

We've selected a few of their most vicious responses below...

1. They're In!

Levine and company will follow in the recent footsteps of Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Beyonce and Bruno Mars. And this is what some people think about that selection...

Drake and Meek Mill: The Beef is… SQUASHED!

At the conclusion of Rocky IV, Rocky Balboa grabbed a microphone and addressed a crowd of supporters in Russia.

The attendees has gone from booing the famous boxer to cheering him on due to the grit and determination Rocky displayed while knocking out local steroid user Ivan Drago in the ring.

"If I can change and you can change," Balboa told the throng all around him. "Anyone can change."

All these decades later, it now looks as if Drake and Meek Mill were paying close attention.

The artists stunned fans on Saturday, September 8 during Drake’s Aubrey and the Three Amigos Tour concert stop when Mill was called to come out and join the “God’s Plan” rapper on stage.

The stars had been at pretty serious odds ever since 2015 when Mill accused Drake of using a ghostwriter to write his songs.

You almost can't say anything more savage about another rapper n this business.

“Stop comparing drake to me …. He don’t write his own raps!" Tweeted Meek Mill at the time, adding:

"That’s why he ain’t tweet my album [Dreams Worth More Than Money] because we found out!

"The whole game know forreal they scared to tell the truth! I can’t wait to [see] these guys and sit back and act like they don’t know!”

The Degrassi alum responded with back then with multiple diss tracks following the claims, including his popular hit tune, “Back to Back.”

But that was back then.

And the video featured here is now.

“This really gave me peace of mind tonight. Healing and moving forward created one of the most electric and gratifying moments of my career,” Drake captioned a photo of himself shaking Mill’s hand.

“@meekmill I’m happy that you are home and that we could find our way back to our joint purpose," he added.

Watch the dual performance now!

Mac Miller Update: Family Releases Statement, Awful People Blame Ariana Grande for Rapper’s Death

As previously reported, tragedy has once again struck Hollywood.

Around noon on Friday, authorities, responding to a call from an unknown individual, arrived at the San Fernando Valley home of Mac Miller and found the rapper dead.

He was 26 years old.

Mac Miller on Stage

As of this writing, the likely cause of death is a drug overdose.

The artist had been well known and respected across the music industry ever since his debut album in 2012... but he was perhaps better known of late for his long-term relationship with Ariana Grande.

This romance ended in May, with sources saying that Miller's substance abuse issues played a significant role in Grande deciding it was time to part ways.

Just a week later, Miller was arrested for drunk driving.

Shortly afterward, in July, he an interview to Zane Lowe on Beats 1 on Apple Music in which he referred to himself as a "self-destructive depressed drug user."

But he also assured fans at this time that he was doing okay and that he was "happy" for Grande, who he dated for two years.

Just over a month later, Miller is dead.

Mac Miller Snapshot

"Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26,” his family said in a statement provided to multiple outlets.

“He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time

Elsewhere, Warner Bros. Records added the following:

"Mac was a hugely gifted and inspiring artist, with a pioneering spirit and sense of humor that touched everyone he met.

"Mac's death is a devastating loss and cuts short a life and a talent of huge potential, where the possibilities felt limitless."

The Los Angeles Fire Department has confirmed that first responders were dispatched Friday after an 11:42 a.m. call about a medical complaint at a residence in Studio City, California.

They did not transport anyone from the scene, making it safe to assume that Miller had passed away before they arrived.

Ariana Grande and Mac Miller

"I just wanna go on tour,” Miller Tweeted on Thursday. “The show is going to be special every night. I wish it started tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, while music heavyweights mourn Miller's passing ("Great man. I loved him for real. Im completely broken. God bless him," Tweeted Chance the Rapper), a handful of terrible trolls out there are blamng Grande for what has transpired.

They somehow think the singer is responsible for Miller's addiction and for driving him to this fatal place due to their split.

In the wake of this tragedy and upon seeing what these awful people were writing on her Instagram page, Grande disabled Comments for a period of time.

grande diss

She appears to have now turned them back on.

And if she is checking, we sincerely hope she sees that the supporters out there far, far, FAR outweight the misguided haters.

"The amount of tweets blaming Ariana Grande for what happened to Mac Miller is disgusting, his addiction and lack of help is what drove this to happen, don't point the finger and blame," wrote on fan.

And another chimed in as follows:

"Just noticed Ariana Grande disabled comments on her Instagram account after a barrage of Mac Miller-related comments. Recognize the true problem here, rather than using someone else as a scapegoat & continuing the cycle.

All so sad & nauseating."

millersupport

Following Mller's aforementioned crash and DUI arrest, someone on the Internet dared to blame Grande for the rapper's fate.

She wasn't having it.

"I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be," clapped back the singer, adding:

"I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety & prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course) but shaming / blaming women for a man’s inability to keep his s— together is a very major problem."

That is oh so true.

And also so not the point right now.

Mac Miller Pic

A young man is dead at the age of 26.

It's a tragedy.

This is especially the case when you consider what Miller said in a documentary a few years ago:

"I'd rather be the corny white rapper than the drugged-out mess who can't even get out of his house. Overdosing is just not cool. You don't go down in history because you overdose. You just die."

May he rest in peace.

Dolores O’Riordan Death Ruled "Tragic Accident" by Coroner

We now know why Dolores O'Riordan passed away in January.

The former Cranberries lead singer was shockingly found dead in London several months ago, leaving this world at the relatively young age of 46.

Dolores O’Riordan on Stage

There were various theories as to what transpired at the time, with many outlets claiming O'Riordan's death was related to her history of substance abuse.

One irresponsible tabloid even alleged she had overdosed on sleeping pills.

Now, however, per The BBC, coroner Shirley Radcliffe has completed her report and determined that the artist died due to a "tragic accident."

She drowned in her hotel bathtub after drinking a lot of alcohol.

According to this doctor and her findings, there were no signs of injury or self-harm found during the post-mortem examination.

The BBC goes on to say that authorities discovered a bottle of champagne and five miniature bottles in O'Riordan's hotel room, in addition to “containers of prescription drugs with a quantity of tablets in each container."

Moreover, toxicology tests revealed that O’Riordan’s blood contained “therapeutic” amounts of medication but 330mg of alcohol per 100mls of blood.

This equates to “four times over the 80mg legal limit for driving."

Dolores O'Riordan Image

In simpler terms: the singer was very, very drunk.

But the official report does not state she intentionally drowned herself.

Following the release of these findings, The Cranberries released a statement that reads:

Today we continue to struggle to come to terms with what happened.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Dolores’ children and her family and our thoughts are with them today.

Dolores will live on eternally in her music.

To see how much of a positive impact she had on people’s lives has been a source of great comfort for us.

We’d like to say thank you to all of our fans for the outpouring of messages and their continues support during this very difficult time.

cranberries statement

O’Riordan joined The Cranberries when she was only 18 years old.

She quickly became an integral part of the band both for her voice and also her songwriting.

The group, whose top hits include “Linger,” “Dreams,” and “Zombie,” sold over 40 million albums worldwide and had multiple Billboard Top 200 hits throughout the 1990s.

O’Riordan released her first solo album in 2003.

Six years later, the group got back together and released an acoustic album as recently as 2017.

Dolores O'Riordan Pic

O’Riordan's death came as a stunning tragedy to her friends and fans.

The remaining band members have repeatedly paid tribute to O’Riordan on Twitter, saying shortly after she died:

We are devastated on the passing of our friend Dolores. She was an extraordinary talent and we feel very privileged to have been part of her life from 1989 when we started the Cranberries.

The world has lost a true artist today.

Elsewhere, The Cranberries will releasing a new album, which O’Riordan had been working on with them before her death.

It will contain previously unreleased material by the band, as well as other bonus material from the era and it will be released in October.

O’Riordan leaves behind three kids - Taylor, Mollie and Dakota - as well as her boyfriend, Olé Koretsky.

May she rest in peace.

Miranda Lambert and Married Boyfriend Evan Felker: It’s Over!

Back in June, Miranda Lambert confessed that she is a homewrecker.

At the time, she was carrying on with another country singer, and their relationship had begun before he ever filed for divorce.

Now, they have split, and Miranda has confirmed that she is single ... for now.

Miranda Lambert Wins an Award!

In an interview with The Tennessean, Miranda Lambert discusses love, heartbreak, and her current relationship status.

First of all, Miranda confirms that she is "happily single" at the moment.

That means that she and Evan Felker, who had a controversial romance that began earlier this year, are no longer a couple.

Miranda also speaks about romance and how it has impacted her.

"Love is a hard road sometimes," Miranda shares. "And it’s been a roller-coaster ride for me."

Evan Felker

Despite the emotional hardship that comes from falling out of love, it sounds like Miranda wouldn't change a thing -- for a very practical reason.

"But," Miranda continues. "I’m definitely thankful for all the ups and downs."

She explains that she's grateful "because I’ve had some really good songs come out of it."

Hey, her music is her whole livelihood. That makes a lot of sense.

Needless to say, Miranda is far from the only singer to pour her love life into her music.

Miranda Lambert at CMAs

Miranda describes the process that she uses to deal with heartbreak and channel it into her art.

"You’ve got to take the bad parts," she explains. "And put them on paper and then move on to the happy parts."

That's an astoundingly healthy attitude.

"Sometimes," she admits. "The music is so honest that it’s like, 'Oh, that kind of hurts a little,'"

But we can only imagine that this makes it more potent when her fans hear it.

Miranda Lambert at the Mic

"But, it’s good," Miranda adds, to suffer a little at her own music.

She and others like her aim for their fans who listen to their music to understand that they are not alone, and for them to be able to process their own experiences using relatable music.

"We just want women to understand that we’re all doing the same thing," Miranda says.

"We’re all just living our lives," she explains. "And having the same struggles and the same joys and the same outlooks."

That's a powerful statement.

Staci Felker

We can think of one woman who is grappling with recent heartbreak who probably won't be listening to Miranda Lambert's music to sob her way through it.

Back in April, Staci Felker called out Miranda Lambert for homewrecking, because she was carrying on with Staci's husband, Evan Felker.

It was not until weeks later, in May, when Evan Felker filed for divorce.

Plenty of marriages come to an end long before divorce papers are filed ... but many felt that the homewrecker label applied here.

Thta said, we should all keep in mind that Miranda did not kidnap anyone. If the Felker marriage was wrecked, it looks like Evan did the wrecking himself.

Too often, our society looks for a woman to blame, as if men are hapless and lack agency, and somehow can't be blamed.

Ed King, Lynyrd Skynyrd Guitarist, Dead at 68

Ed King, a classic rock musician best known being a guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd, died on Wednesday at his home in Nashville, members of his family have confirmed.

He was 68 years old.

king, ed

King played guitar and bass for the aforementioned Southern rock band from 1972 to 1975. again from 1987 to 1996.

He also co-wrote one of Skynyrd's most legendary hits, "Sweet Home Alabama," with Ronnie Van Zant and Gary Rossington, although none of them actually hailed from Alabama.

As of this writing, no cause of death has been specified of reported.

But it's been known for awhile now that King had been battling lung cancer and had recently been hospitalized for the illness.

A message on King’s Facebook confirmed this sad piece of news as it reads as follows:

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Ed King who died at his home in Nashville, Tennessee on August 22nd, 2018.

We thank his many friends and fans for their love and support of Ed during his life and career.

As you can see below, fans and supporters immediately responded to King's passing with notes of mourning and sorrow:

fb remarks

King was not with the band in 1977 when Van Zant and two other members were killed in a plane crash.

He rejoined Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1987, but was allegedly forced to leave the band again in 1996 due to congestive heart failure.

A California native, King was a founding member of the psychedelic 1960s band Strawberry Alarm Clock, known for their hit “Incense and Peppermints.”

He joined Skynyrd years later, temporarily replacing bassist Leon Wilkeson and then becoming a full-fledged member as its third guitarist.

eddie king

King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, along with all of the other former members of the band.

He was also featured in the recently released Lynyrd Skynyrd documentary, "If I Leave Here Tomorrow," giving fans ample insight into the beloved group.

Said fellow guitarist Gary Rossington upon learning of King's death:

"I’ve just found out about Ed’s passing and I’m shocked and saddened.

"Ed was our brother, and a great songwriter and guitar player. I know he will be reunited with the rest of the boys in Rock and Roll Heaven. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."

May Ed King rest in peace.

Gretchen Wilson Arrested For Disturbance on Airplane (See Her Unusual Mug Shot!)

Gretchen Wilson, the country artist likely best known for the 2004 hit “Redneck Woman,” was arrested after an incident on an airplane, Tuesday, multiple outlets have confirmed.

And she's now responsible for one of the most memorable celebrity mug shots of all-time as a result.

Gretchen Wilson Picture

Before we get to that, however, consider the details of what allegedly transpired...

Connecticut State Police have confirmed that the 45-year old singer was taken into custody on Tuesday night about 7:15 p.m.

Wilson was on a flight landing at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut when she allegedly created some kind of "minor disturbance" aboard the plane.

As a result, cops actually met her near the vehicle after it hit the ground.

Gretchen Wilson Photo

“While interviewing the accused on the jetway, she became belligerent toward officers and caused a ‘disturbance,’” according to the arrest report.

The star was “ultimately taken into custody for Breach of Peace,” the report adds.

Shortly thereafter, she managed to close her eyes, look down and somehow NOT be centered for her mug shot.

You don't see that combination very often...

Gretchen Wilson Mug Shot

Wilson is expected in court on Wednesday.

A resident of Lebanon, Tennessee, Wilson was scheduled to perform at the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut on Wednesday, hence why she was touching down in the area on Tuesday evening.

We can't say for certain, but it seems unlikely at this point that she'll hit that stage as planned.

The 2005 Grammy Award winner’s latest album, Ready to Get Rowdy, was release in June 2017.

She famously crooned, “I ain’t no high-class broad” in her aforementioned hit track, and has established a reputation for herself as being somewhat of a rebel.

So we guess this act fits.

Gretchen Wilson Album Art

“Redneck Woman” was the lead single off Wilson's debut album, "Here for the Party."

It climbed all the way to number-one on the country charts.

Her second album, "All Jacked Up," came out a year later -- and the title track became the highest-debuting song for a female country artist.

Away from the microphone, the singer has also been known for the time, effort and money she gives to various charities, including being an advocate for adult education.

Gretchen Wilson Album Cover

In 2008, she completed her GED and has since testified before Congress about the importance of support for adult learners.

Her bail has been set at $1,000.

UPDATE:

Wilson’s troubles allegedly began when she tried to use the airplane’s restroom.

Per WFSB, the artist grew impatient while waiting in line and knocked on the bathroom door.

Other passengers have stated that this appeared to irritate the woman who was inside... as proven by the door being swung open and nearly colliding with Wilson.

The two then had a brief verbal spat.

MTV Video Music Awards: And the Winners Were…

A night of crazy fashion, memorable tributes and even a few tears has come to an end.

On Monday evening, MTV handed out its annual Video Music Awards, recognizing Jennifer Lopez for her (HAWT!) body of work in the process, while mourning the late and truly great Aretha Franklin.

Which artists came out on top?

Which singers went home empty-handed?

Which stars did Kanye West interrupt on stage this time around?

The answer to the final question posed above is no one... while the answers to the first two questions can be found in our complete list of winners below...

Nicki Minaj Shades Travis Scott, Says Kylie Jenner Made His Album #1

Last week, after Kylie announced that she was taking Stormi on tour with her baby daddy, Travis Scott's album reached #1 on Billboard.

Which means that Astroworld is #1 the same week as the debut of Nicki Minaj's new album, Queen.

Nicki went on a Twitter rant, blaming this on Kylie's promotion -- and on a plot by Spotify to "teach her a lesson."

Nicki Minaj in Black

"I put my blood sweat & tears in writing a dope album," Nicki lamented in her first of several tweets.

Her album debuted, she writes, "only for Travis Scott to have Kylie Jenner post a tour pass telling ppl to come see her & Stormi."

While that wasn't quite what she said, we did note last week that plenty of fans are likely to hope to get a glimpse of Kylie and her baby at Travis' shows.

"lol," Nicki continues. "Im actually laughing. #Queen broke the record of being number 1 in 86 countries."

Nicki concludes that tweet with: "Thank Jesus & thank you to my fans."

Nicki Minaj Tweet about Travis Scott 01

"Travis sold over 50K of these," Nicki writes in her next tweet, with an accompanying image, as you will see in a moment.

Nicki notes that Travis did this "with no requirement of redeeming the album! With no dates for a tour, etc."

What's more is that the queen of rap says that Travis himself knows that his position on the charts is overblown.

"I spoke to him," Nicki claims. "He knows he doesn’t have the #1 album this week."

Imagine what that alleged conversation must have been like!

"I love my fans for the #1 album in AMERICA!" Nicki writes, before teasing: "I’ll explain on #QueenRadio 4 albums in, #1 in 86 countries"

Nicki Minaj Tweet about Travis Scott 02

Speaking of Queen Radio, Nicki has a major bone to pick with Spotify.

"Spotify put drake’s face on every playlist," Nicki laments. "But told me they’d have to teach me a lesson for playing my music 10 mins early on #QueenRadio."

Streaming platforms love their exclusivity.

Nicki says that they are doing this "even tho they’ve been giving away my music for free for years & I am one of the top Spotify artists of all time."

"Spotify had to teach me a lesson," Nicki accuses. "But rewarded the man who has had an Apple radio show the longest; inadvertently helping the Apple platform the most."

"Oh I can’t wait for #QueenRadio on Tuesday," Nicki says. "They took away my promotion they had promised for the 1st cpl days b/c of this. #Queen"

Nicki Minaj Epic Mirror Belfie

A number of fans suggested that Nicki's label should be standing up for her with Spotify.

Nicki replied that her label has more to lose than she does.

"My label didn’t want to defend me," Nicki explains. "For fear of Spotify trying to teach Ariana a 'lesson' too!"

Oh no! Ariana's new album, Sweetener, just came out last week. It's not her best album, but it's still good, and "Goodnight n Go" is such a gift.

It sounds like Nicki suspects that Spotify would hold their ability to penalize other artists over the head of any record label.

Nicki Minaj and Boobs

Despite all of that, Nicki suggests that there are no real hard feelings.

"People are calling me thinking I’m huffing & puffing," Nicki tweets. "Omg y’all this is sarcasm/dry humor. Yikes. I’m having the most iconNIC time."

That sounds like a very different tone than than her earlier tweets.

"Come let me kiss you," Nicki adds. "Who’s coming to the secret show? When people call me & hear me crackin up laughing they seem so puzzled. Loosen up."

It is difficult to tell how much of that is just bravado. Perhaps she will reveal more on Tuesday.

Deven Davis, Wife of Korn Frontman, Dead at 39

Deven Davis, the estranged wife of Korn lead singer Jonathan Davis, was found dead on Friday.

She was 39 years old.

Jonathan Davis, Wife

The details surrounding Deven's passing, along with her marriage to Jonathan, are both confusing and tragic.

The artist actually filed for, and was granted, a restraining order against Deven just hours before she died.

It prohibited Deven from having any contact with the family dog and also from seeing the two kids she shared with Jonathan.

However, for those wondering whether Deven took her own life or if her passing was in any way related to this legal ruling, the answer is no: TMZ sources say she had not been served prior to her death.

In his court documents, Jonathan alleged that Deven suffered from a serious drug problem and that she had unsuccessfully be battling it for more than two decades.

Jonathan Davis

The Korn frontman says this heavy drug use caused Deven to neglate her kids.

He wrote in his court declaration that she has been dependent on both prescription and illegal narcotics over the years.

He also said had been to rehab six times and "is constantly under the influence of the nitrous oxide, cocaine and Norco."

It gets even more grisly, however.

The singer went into extreme detail when it came to these allegations against his wife.

korn singer

Jonathan went on to claim that Deven had a drug dealer boyfriend ... who was recently passed out on her living room couch when he brought the children to her house.

The artist also says he found a heroin pipe and cocaine floating in the toilet bowl and found Deven passed out on the floor upstairs.

Yikes.

Finally, Jonathan claims when Deven went on a major drug binge that she would "routinely bring home unsavory characters, including strangers...

Jill Janus, the frontwoman for popular heavy metal band Huntress, was found dead on Tuesday, others in this group have confirmed.

She was 43 years old.

Jill Janus

While details are still coming in regarding her passing, this is what band members wrote on Facebook last night as tragic confirmation of the news:

“It is with crushed hearts that we announce that Jill Janus - frontwoman for the California heavy metal band Huntress - passed away on Tuesday, August. 14.

"A long-time sufferer of mental illness, she took her own life outside of Portland, Oregon.”

Continued this post:

"Janus spoke publicly about these challenges in hopes of guiding others to address and overcome their mental illness."

Huntress were formed in 2009 and released its first album, Spell Eater, in 2012.

The band went on to release a further a pair of orther records as well, while supporting and opening at times for rock bands Motörhead and Lamb of God.

Best known for the singing gig described above with Huntress, Janus also sang for a handful of female metal cover bands over the years, including The Starbreakers and Chelsea Girls.

“Beyond her accomplishments in the music world and her advocacy for mental health issues, she was a beautiful person passionate about her family, animal rescue and the world of natural medicine,” the Facebook message reads, concluding

“She will be missed more than she could have ever known.”

It is unclear at the moment just how Janus took her own life.

The artist was diagnosed with bipolar disease aged 20, telling Revolver magazine in 2015 that she struggled in high school after starting to show signs of this illness at 13 years old.

In response to this awful news, partner and Huntress member Blake Meahl paid tribute to Janus as follows yesterday:

“[We] spent 9 years together creating a home, having a family and building our passion project Huntress.

"The devastation of knowing I will never see her again is the most gutting emotion I have ever experienced. I hope you have found the peace that you couldn’t find on this planet."

Added Lizzy Hale of Halestorm:

"I’d like to take a moment to state again how important it is to talk about mental health, and remind all of you out there battling demons that you are not alone.

I have to navigate my own dark labyrinth and I turn to music and writing for my lifeline. I want to encourage you to keep searching for Your lifeline, something that makes You happy.

Aretha Franklin Makes Obama Cry: See the Stunning Performance

It's nearly impossible to choose the most memorable Aretha Franklin performance of all-time.

How could you?!?

This is an artist who performed at two Presidential Inaugurations, belting out "My Country Tis of Thee" in 2009 for Barack Obama and "I Dreamed a Dream" for Bill Clinton in 1993.

There was also her classic "Think" cameo in the beloved film The Blues Brothers.

But a cover that is receiving lots of attention on this sad day, the day Franklin died of cancer, is the version of "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” at the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors.

Franklin took to this stage as part of a tribute to Carole King, who was in attendance, along with President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

As you can see in the video featured on this page, the number opens with the legendary artist in a floor-length fur coat, sitting down at the piano as the voice many believe to be the greatest in history reverberates around the hall.

Just a few lines into the song, the camera cuts to President Obama...

... who wipes a tear away from his eye.

Franklin eventually rises and stands in the middle of the stage, getting into the track's conclusion like only she can, as King cheers and screams in awe from the crowd and Aretha is given a standing ovation before she's even finished.

It's a mesmerizing performance.

It tells you almost all you need to know about the first female ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with the person Rolling Stone once named the greatest singer of all-time.

This is how celebrities around the world are reacting to Aretha's passing...

... and this is what Franklin sounded like even at the age of 73.

50 Cent and 6ix9ine Flee for Cover After Shots Fired on Set!

Rappers 50 Cent and 6ix9ine were filming a music video when the sound of gunfire sent them fleeing for cover.

It wasn't a sound effect -- someone really opened fire. Police are investigating.

And to think that it's only been weeks since 6ix9ine got his ass kicked. The world of rap can be dangerous.

Curtis Jackson

TMZ reports that, on Tuesday night, 50 Cent and 6ix9ine (also known as Tekashi69) were sent running for cover when they heard gunshots on set.

The two were filming a new music video in Brooklyn on Tuesday at around 10:30 PM.

A vehicle described by witnesses as a white Porsche with New Jersey license plates opened fire just a stone's throw from the set, firing multiple shots.

Shell casing evidence indicates that the shooter was using a 9 mm semi-automatic weapon.

Casanova and Uncle Murda were both also present on set.

A spokesperson for the NYPD spoke to HollywoodLife about exactly what went down.

"Tekashi 6ix9ine and 50 Cent were filming a music video in Brooklyn," the statement confirms.

They were in the middle of production "when someone fired shots a block away."

When we're talking about gunfire, that distance seems insignificant.

Ultimately, police collected evidence "and eight shell casings were found."

Fiddy

"The police doesn’t think anyone was hit," the spokesperson reveals.

That is such a relief. But it does not make any of this less frightening.

"But," the statement acknowledges. "They’re canvasing hospitals."

Sometimes, someone gets shot and goes for help without contacting law enforcement. There can be many reasons for that. Some of them are even innnocuous.

But so far, this appears to be a crime with no direct victims "and no suspects have been identified."

50 Cent has been shot nine times. Thankfully, this incident was not one of them.

(Yes, 50 Cent blaming Terry Crews for his own sexual assault was incredibly douchey, but he doesn't deserve to be shot for that)

He's not the only man there who has been on the receiving end of gun violence, however.

6ix9ine was recently robbed, pistol-whipped, and basically left for dead. Like, very recently.

On top of that, 6ix9ine is believe to be an associate to a person of interest in the Chief Keef shooting.

50 Cent in a Cap

Despite all of that, sources close to the music video's production believe that the shooting was unrelated to the stars.

Police, however, are unprepared to rule out that this was some sort of warning or intimidation tactic aimed at someone involved.

They hope to know more after they speak to a suspect.

In the mean time, 6ix9ine may enter prison as a registered sex offender after violating his parole following an incident in which he, an adult, was "partying" with a 13-year-old girl.

Though he may yet be able to weasel out of it at his new hearing on October 2, he likely has larger concerns on his mind than a possibly random, possibly victimless shooting.

Still, wouldn't it be nice if there were fewer guns and this sort of thing happened less frequently?
