At this point, it’s quite clear that Anna Duggar will never divorce Josh.
She’s stood by his side through one scandal after another, and it seems that she now has every intention of waiting for him as he serves his 12-year prison sentence.
Through it all, Anna has received the support of Josh’s parents, who will also stand by their son’s side no matter how many more atrocities he commits.
Insiders say Jim, Michelle, and Anna have occasionally disagreed on the best defense strategy for Josh, but all three are united in their belied that he was wrongly convicted.
Of course, women in the Duggars’ world are taught to be subservient to the men in their lives, so Anna’s loyalty doesn’t come as much of a shock.
And many believe that with Josh locked away, Jim Bob has come to occupy a very important role in Anna’s life.
No one knows for sure if Anna is living with the Duggars, but she’s obviously benefitting from their support in some way.
It’s difficult to imagine that a woman who’s never held a job as an adult could otherwise support seven children.
It’s possible that Anna is just pretending to believe in Josh’s innocence so as not to alienate his parents and lose their financial support.
But with how fervently she’s defended her husband in the past, the more likely explanation is that she actually believes he’s innocent.
And some folks who have been watching the situation closely are convinced that Jim Bob has been instrumental in
“The real reason Anna isn’t divorcing Josh is because the men that are supposed to be ‘leading her’ are brainwashing her with lies, conspiracies that Josh is innocent so she doesn’t leave him,” says YouTuber Katie Joy in a recent video.
Joy points out that the Duggars’ community is a strictly patriarchal one in which men lead and women follow.
With Josh gone, Jim Bob has likely stepped into a leadership role in Anna’s life.
And since the Duggars believe that all divorces are abominations, JB likely sees it as his duty to ensure that Josh and Anna remain married.
His approach to this problem is presumably two-pronged:
He supports Anna financially so that she can’t afford to leave Josh, and he feeds Anna lies about how Josh has been framed and wrongfully convicted.
Of course, it might be unfair to accuse Jim Bob of “brainwashing” Anna because she’s probably more than happy to believe the Duggar family’s lies.
In fact, at this point, it’s probably impossible for her to recognize the truth of the situation.
And so, Anna continues to go along with her in-laws’ nonsense, but it’s impossible to know how much of it she really believes, and how much of it she’s just going along with for the sake of convenience.
We may never know to what extent Anna is being conned by the Duggars and to what extent she’s assisting in the con.
Whatever the case, it’s clear that she’s on board with this family for life.
