Elon Musk is threatening to sue Mark Zuckerberg‘s Meta over the launch of the company’s new social media platform Threads.

Threads, an alterative to Twitter that is linked to Instagram, launched this week with a multitude of celebrities signing on to give it their stamp of approval.

However, Elon, the owner of Twitter, appears to be less than enthused by the new competition. He is now threatening with a lawsuit and attempting to make a case.

Variety noted that a lawyer for Twitter sent Meta a cease-and-desist letter taking issue with the newly launched platform. The letter accuses Threads of copying Twitter and using “trade secrets” obtained from former Twitter employees to launch.

“Twitter intends to strictly enforce its intellectual property rights, and demands that Meta take immediate steps to stop using any Twitter trade secrets or other highly confidential information,” the letter reads.

The complaint stems from the allegation that Meta brought on “dozens of Twitter employees.” Of course, you’ll likely recall that Elon fired a large portion of the company’s staff when he took over last year. There were even reports that he made a desperate attempt to bring some of them back.

In a tweet, Elon seemingly accused Meta of “cheating” with their launch.

Meanwhile, Andy Stone, a spokesperson for Meta, took to Threads to deny the allegations. “No one on the Threads engineering team is a former Twitter employee — that’s just not a thing,” he wrote.
