Camille Vasquez: Johnny Depp Deserved to Have a Woman Defend Him!

It’s been almost a month since the jury reached its verdict in the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial.

But the trial and its controversial outcome are still hot topics of debate in the press and on social media.

Depp v. Heard was the biggest celebrity court case since the O.J. Simpson murder trial, and like its predecessor, it spawned some celebrities of its own.

Among the legal figures who achieved unexpected overnight fame earlier this summer, none is more popular than Camille Vasquez.

Vasquez was an attorney for Depp, and fans loved watching the courtroom interactions between the two.

At one point, there were even rumors that Depp and Vasquez were dating.

We now know that wasn’t the case.

In fact, Vasquez is engaged and Depp is rumored to have a new girlfriend.

Still, Vasquez remains a favorite figure among obsessive Depp fans.

The 38-year-old sat down with Gayle King this week for her first extensive interview since the trial ended.

And Camille’s comments might have made her even more popular among Depp obsessives.

“It was important to have a woman on the team,” Vasquez explained at one point.

Every bit as poised as she was in court, Camille was ready with an answer when King pressed her further details.

“This case called for a woman’s perspective, and I was the lucky person chosen to do this job,” Vasquez replied.

“Do you feel lucky? Is lucky the word?” King asked.

“I think so, yeah,” Vasquez promptly answered.

“I think hard work and luck — you can’t underestimate there was a combination there. Of course, it’s a tremendous amount of hours, but it’s also a little bit of luck, and it’s not a job that I took lightly,” she continued.

“This was his name, this was his life. It was important.”

Vasquez, of course, was not the only woman to defend Depp during the trial.

The actor’s former girlfriend Kate Moss took the stand to clarify that Depp never pushed her down a flight of stairs during their relationship, as Heard had alleged.

Of course, the trial also featured a pre-recorded deposition from actress Ellen Barkin, in which she alleged that Depp once threw a wine bottle at her during an argument.

In the end, however, the jury sided with Depp and awarded the actor $10.35 million in damages.

Depp’s attorneys were able to convince the jury that Heard did irreparable damage to her ex-husband’s career with a 2018 Washington Post essay in which identified herself as a victim of sexual assault.

Many observers and legal experts believe that Vasquez’s cross-examination of Heard was the turning point in the trial.

And we’re sure Depp has been effusive in expressing his gratitude to the young attorney who helped him emerge victorious.
