While the United States was spared the brunt of Hurricane Dorian’s impact after a close call, the storm brought utter devastation to the Bahamas, which may never fully recover from the impact.
As a result, many who were loaded up and ready to assist in the clean-up efforts in Florida (or Alabama, if you went by President Donald John Trump’s forecast), decided to set out for the Bahamas instead.
Among those who made the trip were several members of the Duggar family, the controversial TLC reality stars turned humanitarians.
And while assisting with hurricane relief efforts is generally a rather admirable pursuit, just about every project the Duggars undertake is motivated by their endless pursuit of the almighty dollar.
Now, an investigation by some of their critics say their Bahamas trip was no different – and they may have done more harm than good during their time in the ravaged nation.

The Duggar family’s unusual dating (sorry, courting) rules had been well documented long before they were embroiled in scandal.
Once Josh Duggar’s child molestation history – and brazen adultery – was exposed, the family has been under a microscope.
Yet, despite his hypocrisy, and the fact that their every move is under heavier scrutiny than ever, they weather every storm.
TLC axed 19 Kids & Counting, only to quickly come back with Counting On, featuring the same Duggars and their beliefs.
Well, sans the radioactive Josh.
That’s a bridge too far for even the hard core believers. But when it comes to the Arkansas family’s core values, they stand firm.
Their belief system certainly requires conviction in order to practice, since their list of policies for love and life is not short.
Despite Joy breaking rules, Jinger’s new life in L.A. and Derick Dillard’s sex on the brain (so weird), the rules are no joke.

Counting On is basically the reality TV equivalent of Game of Thrones:
On each show, there are roughly four million characters, and it’s often difficult to keep track of who’s doing what … or whom.
The Duggars take a slightly more conservative view on coupling than the residents of Westeros, but all the same, courtships, weddings, pregnancies, and births are a big part of what keeps their core audience tuning in.
So here’s a rundown of what some of Jim Bob and Michelle’s kids are up to these days.
Don’t worry – unlike Thrones, the Duggars won’t be leaving your TV screen anytime soon. Not as long as they continue to make sure Earth’s population growth continues unabated.

For years now, Jinger Duggar has had a reputation as the most rebellious member of her ultra-conservative family.
Conversely, her older sister Jana Duggar has so fully devoted herself to serving her domineering parents that at the age of 29, Jana is still single, still childless, and still living in her childhood bedroom.
We say this with no judgment toward Jana, as that’s not an unusual set of circumstances in 2019.
But the choices she’s made are highly unusual in the Duggars’ world — an ultra-conservative, extremely old-fashioned community in which women are taught from a young age that procreation is their primary reason for being.
The fact that Jana is still single remains a frequent topic of discussion among Duggar fans.
Theories vary widely as to why she has yet to start a family of her own.
Some believe she simply hasn’t found Mr. Right, while others maintain that Jana is a lesbian who has been engaging in an illicit same-sex affair with longtime friend Laura DeMasie.
But whatever the hypothesis, the central thrust of the narrative remains the same, and it’s widely agreed that Jana is something of a disappointment to her grandchild-obsessed parents.
Jana has offered only vague responses when asked why she’s still single, and it’s entirely possible that either she’s made a conscious decision to remain unattached, or she’s still in search of a suitable partner.
However, there’s another theory that’s gained traction among Duggar watchers in recent months — it holds that Jana is being oppressed by her parents, who are forcing her to remain at home in order to help raise her younger siblings.
Proponents of this line of thinking insist that Jana is not a disappointment to Jim Bob and Michelle at all and has actually devoted her life to doing their bidding.
Perhaps, they reason, Jana will be set free when her youngest sisters are of marrying age themselves.
But since Jennifer, Jordyn, and Josie are only 11, 10, and 9 respectively, it may be quite some time before their caretaker is permitted to leave the Duggar compound.
That means, of course, that defying her parents and setting off against their wishes might be Jana’s only option in terms of starting a family of her own.
And what does all of this have to do with Jinger Duggar?
Well, all this week we’ve been bringing you exclusive reports from our Duggar insider — a longtime employee of the family who developed close friendships with several of Jim Bob and Michelle’s children during his years of working with their parents.
First, he informed us that Josiah Duggar is clashing with Jim Bob like never before and may be headed for a mental breakdown as a result of constant strife within the family.
After that, he closed the book on the ongoing mystery of Mary Duggar’s death by drowning.
Now the source is sharing his views on Jana Duggar and her controversial marital status.
It seems he’s of the opinion that Jana is indeed being held back by her parents — and that Jinger represents her only chance to break free.
“Jana is the one I hope can break the bonds that hold her,” the insider said in an interview with The Hollywood Gossip.
The source made it clear that he believes Jana deserves more than the lonely fate she’s been assigned to — and he feels Jinger is the only one who can lead her to independence.
“Maybe Jinger is just what she needs,” he said.
“She’s such a wonderful woman whether she’s gay or not. Somebody is gonna be lucky to have her. She’s the epitome of pure love.”
Well, the 25-year-old mother of one has inspired rebellion in her sisters on previous occasions — such as when Jinger wore pants in public, becoming the first Duggar woman of her generation to defy the family’s infamous dress code.
Since then, she’s broken from her parents’ worldview in a number of subtle but significant ways.
In Jeremy Vuolo, she found a husband who’s vastly more liberal than her parents, and when the couple moved to Los Angeles so that Jeremy could study at an area divinity school, Jinger’s parents were so upset that they reportedly disowned her.
If there’s anyone who can inspire Jana to wriggle out from under her parents’ control, it’s Jinger.
Sadly, it seems the likelihood of Jana seeking freedom dwindles with each passing year.
Asked about the fact that Jana appears to have accepted the possibility that she’ll forever remain single, the informant resignedly remarked, “Such is life.”
Sadly, he’s correct — women in strict evangelical communities give in to patriarchal pressures every day.
But millions of Duggar fans are not yet ready to give up on Jana.
And hopefully, she’s not ready to give up on herself.
If you’re a fan of her famous family, then we probably don’t need to tell you that Jana Duggar is single.
An unattached, 29-year-old woman is a virtually unheard-of phenomenon in the Duggars’ community — a culture in which women are taught from a young age that procreation is their primary reason for being.
When Jana’s twin brother, John David Duggar, married Abbie Burnett back in November, Jana became the only unmarried Duggar over the age of 20.
Her love life is obviously her own business, but given the extent to which the Duggars have shared every aspect of their lives with television viewers, it stands to reason that fans would be curious as to why Jana hasn’t started a family of her own.
And in recent months, some interesting theories have emerged as part of the effort to understand why a young woman who’s so thoroughly committed to her parents’ worldview in virtually every respect would stray in this one important way.

It’s an exciting time for the members of Arkansas’ second most-famous family.
(Sorry, but the bajillionaire Waltons are tough to beat.)
We’re in the midst of a veritable Duggar baby boom with no fewer than 5 Duggar women currently expecting.
That’s a dream come true for Michelle and Jim Bob, who are firm believers that they were put on this planet for the primary purpose of being fruitful and multiplying.
At this rate, in a couple decades’ time, the Duggars will have enough grandchildren and great-grandchildren to tip the scales of an Arkansas gubernatorial election and finally give Jim Bob that political career he’s always wanted.
But as thrilled as JB is to see his many kids having many kids, the process of a global Duggar takeover may not be happening as quickly as he had hoped:
You see, there are five adult Duggar children who are currently unmarried, and that just doesn’t jibe with Jim Bob’s worldview.
The Duggar patriarch is an adherent of the Quiverfull movement, which holds that it’s the duty of each and every Christian to sire as many offspring as humanly possible.
So you can bet four of the five single Duggars over the age of 18 will be married before long.
The third may be a tough nut for Jim Bob to crack.
As you’re probably aware, 29-year-old Jana Duggar is still single, and she seems to have every intention of staying that way.
When her twin brother John David Duggar married Abbie Burnett back in November, Jana became the oldest single Duggar.
You might think that would make her Jim Bob’s top priority, but it seems he’s accepted the fact that Jana is content with her current situation.
That places the focus squarely on 20-year-old twins Jedediah and Jeremiah.
(Jason and James Duggar are 19 and 18, respectively, and while Jim Bob is no doubt eyeing courtship prospects, he tends to prefer that his kids get married in order of age.)
Insiders say the smart money is on Jeremiah, who’s considered to be the “heartthrob” of the family.
Last year, there were rumors that Jeremiah was courting a mystery woman, but nothing ever came of the alleged romance.
Of course, there have been rumors about Jedidiah, too — but the Duggars have been quick to sweep those reports under the rug.
Back in 2017, a source informed The Hollywood Gossip that Jedidiah courted Kendra Caldwell before her relationship with Joseph Duggar, but Jim Bob decided Joe should marry Kendra, as he’s the older brother.
We may never know for certain exactly what happened there, but the fact that the rumor is considered plausible is a testament to the amount of control that Jim Bob exerts over his kids’ love lives.
So expect Jed or Jeremiah to be next to walk down the aisle.
Since they’re the same age, it might be tough for Jim Bob to decide who to marry off first.
