Drew Carey Mourns Ex-Fiancee: "I’m Overcome with Grief"

Drew Carey has broken his silence...

... on a topic he wishes he never had to talk about.

As previously reported, Amie Harwick was tragically killed on Saturday morning following an alleged confrontation with an ex-boyfriend that led to her falling three stories off a balcony to her death.

Harwick was 38 years old.

She had grown into a well-known sex therapist in Hollywood who appeared in the 2015 documentary "Addicted to Sexting" and authored the book "The New Sex Bible for Women" in 2014.

She also got engaged to Carey in early 2018 and broke up with the comedian in November of that same year.

In response to Harwick's passing, The Price is Right has suspendded shooting this week while its host mourns.

And now Carey has released a couple statements of his own in response to the tragedy.

"Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime," Carey said in a statement to Yahoo Entertainment Monday, adding:

"She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief.

"I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation."

Carey then took to Twitter and wrote the following:

I hope you're lucky enough to have someone in your life that loves as much as she did.

The details behind this incident are still coming in, but they thus far paint a harrowing picture.

According to a news release shared by the Los Angeles Police Department, the LAPD responded to a call of a "woman screaming" in the Hollywood Hills at around 1:16 a.m. on Saturday.

Harwick's roommate met the police officers on the street once they arrived and told them Harwick was being assaulted inside of the residence.

Per this same release, the roommate had jumped over a wall and gone to nearby residences to call for help.

Once the officers arrived at the residence, they discovereed Harwick on the ground beneath a third-story balcony, "gravely injured" and "unresponsive."

Her injuries were also consistent with a fall.

The Los Angeles Fire Department took Harwick to a local hospital, where she later died from the injuries.

Authorities have confirmed that there were signs of a struggle and, later, they arrested Harwick's ex-boyfriend, Gareth Pursehouse, on suspicion of murder.

The investigation is still ongoing and will be presented to the District Attorney for filing consideration on Wednesday.
