If you follow the family closely, then you're probably aware that Duggar controversies come in all shapes and sizes.
There's stuff like the Josh Duggar sex scandal that nearly brought down Jim Bob's entire media empire, but mostly it's smaller potatoes, like fans going insane because Jessa allowed her kids to wear white after Labor Day, or something.
It's tough to say where Saga of Jana's Alleged Gun Collection will fall on that spectrum.
On the surface, it's got all the makings of a real brouhaha.
After all, it involves guns, the possible illicit sale of guns, and Jana Duggar -- aka The Most Interesting Member of the Family By a Considerable Margin.
But on the other hand, there's a very strong that this is a whole lot of BS, and there's no real scandal here at all.
Allow us to explain:
The Duggars love to buy real estate, fix it up, and turn a profit by selling it for more than they paid.
Along with the truckload of money they make from their reality show and related media ventures (posting sponsored content on social media, etc.), flipping houses is one of the family's largest and most reliable sources of income.
Jana long ago earned a reputation as the most business-savvy and multi-talented of the Duggars, and so it comes as no surprise that she's taken an active role in the real estate game.
With us, so far? Good, because this is where it gets weird.
Back in April, Jana started her own company.
It's called the Arbor Acres Group, LLC and no one's really sure what the hell purpose it serves.
But based on the name and Jana's interest in real estate and renovations, it's widely assumed she'll be using the corporation to buy and sell houses.
Now, what does all of this have to do with Jana smuggling entire arsenals like some evangelical Oliver North?
We're getting to it! Stop being so pushy, hypothetical reader!
You see, last year Michelle and Jim Bob brought up a massive 2.7 acre home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
It was one of their biggest buys in a while, and like many of Jim Bob's real estate deals, it stirred up considerable controversy among his new neighbors.
Turns out your typical Arkansas resident would prefer that his home not wind up on reality TV every week. Who knew!
The situation led to speculation that Jana's company was basically a shell corporation that would take some of the heat off of Jim Bob's wheelings and dealings.
Now, the moment you've been waiting for -- the guns.
After more than a year of renovations (presumably spearheaded by Jana), the Siloam Springs mansion is finally listed online.
And as the eagle-eyed folks at Radar Online noticed, the property appears to be home to quite a few firearms.
This has led some to conclude that Jana has broken bad and is officially moving large quantities of weaponry on the black market.
She's been working on this house for over a year! these dummies argue. Why would the guns still be on the shelves ... unless they come with the house!
Sadly, it appears that what's really happening here is much more boring.
It seems to us that the Duggars left the guns there in order to demonstrate the intended use for the room.
So while this isn't the Duggars' first gun-related controversy and it likely won't be their last, it looks to us like there's not much to be concerned about here
Jim Bob and company own a lot of weapons, and they're probably ready to blow some heathen heads off once the Rapture hits the fan.
But none of that has anything to do with this -- which appears to be nothing more than the Arkansas equivalent of putting some prop spices on a spice rack.
