Jay Leno Breaks Silence on Gabrielle Union’s America’s Got Talent Firing, Is Such an A-Hole

If the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist...

... then the greatest trick Jay Leno ever pulled  was convincing the world he was a nice guy.

Because, man oh man, does this guy ever suck.

The former late-night talk show host finds himself in the news these days for a somewhat random, and totally troubling, reason.

About a week ago, Gabrielle Union was fired by America's Got Talent producers because -- according to various sources and outlets -- the actress took issue with various examples of sexism and racism behind the scenes of the reality show.

One example of this alleged racism?

A joke Leno cracked backstage during a visit to the set as a guest judge.

"Leno made a crack about a painting on display in a hallway of Simon Cowell, the show's executive producer and judge, surrounded by his dogs," Variety wrote last week, adding in its report:

"Leno joked that the pets looked like something one would find 'on the menu at a Korean restaurant.'"

Union supposedly called Leno out about this quip to higher-ups at the show -- and she somehow got in trouble for doing so.

With his name linked to this scandal, Leno has finally made a comment about Union and what transpired with her status on AGT.

Lion's Share News caught up with the comedian at the Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California this past weekend ... where he addressed the controversy in the most condescending way possible.

"I love Gabrielle Union. She's a great girl. I really enjoyed working with her," Leno said in video obtained by TMZ. "She's really good."

When asked if she was treated fairly on the popular summer series, Jay replied:

"I don't know…but I think she's a great girl."

Yes, a great girl.

For the record, Gabrielle Union is 47 years old.

While Union has tried to stay quiet on all the headlines surrounding her exit from America's Got Talent, she did recently take to Twitter and expressed gratitude for all the support she has received in recent days.

"So many tears, so much gratitude," she shared with her followers.

"THANK YOU! Just when you feel lost, adrift, alone…you got me up off the ground. Humbled and thankful, forever."

Ever since her firing, Union has received support from Ellen Pompeo, Holly Robinson Peete, Ariana Grande, Patricia Arquette, Lin-Manuel Miranda and many other celebrities.

She has also made it evident, via the above Tweet, that Cowell and his production company just issued the lamest apology of all-time.

This is what the company behind America's Got Talent said in its statement:

“We remain committed to ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees and take very seriously any questions about workplace culture.

"We are working with Ms. Union through her representatives to hear more about her concerns, following which we will take whatever next steps may be appropriate."

And this is what NBC has said in response to the controversy:

We remain committed to ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees and take very seriously any questions about workplace culture.

We are working with Ms. Union through her representatives to hear more about her concerns, following which we will take whatever next steps may be appropriate.
