Julianne Hough is feeling freer than ever!
The Dancing With The Stars pro kept it candid while opening up about her IVF and fertility journey with husband Brooks Laich, which began last summer in the hopes of conceiving a baby.
While chatting with People on Tuesday at the launch of Roven Clean Beauty in El Lay, Hough shared:
“The best part about being open is when you really don’t have anything to hide, it’s just liberating and free. The thing at hand that felt so heavy to carry doesn’t feel so heavy anymore. It’s not a burden.”
She continued, adding:
“t’s actually a freedom where not only do I feel free, but then people can see themselves in that freedom and have the courage also to talk about it. I really, truly believe that when we keep things inside, that’s where illnesses come from.”
Clearly, Miz Hough is super in touch with herself! Derek Hough‘s sister explained (below):
“That’s where pain comes from — physically, emotionally, mentally. So the more we not only just talk about it, but [move] through it, [the better]. That is what I believe in. And so I’m an open book. I might not be everybody’s cup of tea as far as how open I am, but it makes me happy.”
The Footloose star and her ice hockey-playing husband have previously not shied away from talking about “taboo” topics like toe sucking and sex, so it isn’t a huge surprise that she’s being so open about her fertility struggles.
Recently, the 31-year-old spilled to Women’s Health she revealed something fairly surprising to her husband:
“I [told him], ‘You know I’m not straight, right?’ And he was like, ‘I’m sorry, what?’ I was like, ‘I’m not. But I choose to be with you.'”
Hough elaborated (below):
“I think there’s a safety with my husband now that I’m unpacking all of this, and there’s no fear of voicing things that I’ve been afraid to admit or that I’ve had shame or guilt about because of what I’ve been told or how I was raised.”
As we previously reported, Miz Hough detailed how a sex therapist “saved” her relationship with Brooks, as she continued to strip down layers for WH:
“I was connecting to the woman inside that doesn’t need anything, versus the little girl that looked to him to protect me. I was like, ‘Is he going to love this version of me?’ But the more I dropped into my most authentic self, the more attracted he was to me. Now we have a more intimate relationship.”
We applaud you for being so open, Julianne!!
