Logan Paul is weighing in on the feud between fellow YouTubers Tati Westbrook and James Charles.
ICYMI, Paul is the latest of many social media stars who’ve shared their opinions on Charles’ alleged romantic pursuit of straight men. The inappropriate behavior and more shocking allegations were exposed in a 43-minute long video upload by Westbrook less than a week ago.
On Wednesday, the 24-year-old vlogger attempted to come to James’ defense during an episode of his imPaulsive podcast. Logan urged his listeners and celebs following the drama to exercise caution when labeling the makeup artist as a “predator.”
He explained his stance, saying:
“Really think about what you’re saying, and really think about what a true ‘sexual predator’ is. The kid is 19. Cut him some slack, please.”
It sounds like the internet star is convinced that his peer’s age should deter people from passing harsh judgment about his actions.
Um, that’s not exactly how this works, buddy…
It is completely possible to be a young man who made a few questionable decisions and overstepped clear boundaries set by another person, and exhibit predatory behavior all at the same time. We’re not so sure a person’s age excludes them from being called out…
Following those initial remarks, Paul was quick to point out that he doesn’t want his own words to be taken out of context. He clarified his “defense” of the star, saying:
“I don’t like James Charles. But the crime does not fit the punishment. I’m not defending James Charles, I’m saying [go] easy when you puff your chest out, put your chin up, and call him a sexual predator.”
Considering Paul’s own personal history of questionable behavior online, we’re not so sure he’s the moral authority to be preaching here. But we digress…
The former Vine star isn’t the only person to come to speak out in support of Charles though!
As we reported, beauty guru Nikita Dragun attempted to come to James‘ defense Monday evening by sharing screenshots of text messages between the two via Twitter. But the move ultimately backfired after fans absolutely tore her tweets to shreds.
Ever since the controversy was exposed, the teen has lost over three million YouTube subscribers and his merch line, Sisters Apparel, has seemingly suffered too.
What do YOU think about Logan’s defense? Spot on, or way off the mark?
