Ruthie Ann Miles Announces Pregnancy Two Years After Loss Of Daughter & Unborn Child

Ruthie Ann Miles is expecting!

As you may recall, the All Rise star and her husband Jonathan Blumenstein tragically lost their 4-year-old daughter, Abigail Joy, two years ago after crossing a street in Brooklyn and a car drove through a red light, hitting several pedestrians.

Miles, who was pregnant at the time of the accident with a baby girl she planned to name Sophia Rosemary and spent three days in intensive care, lost her child two months after the crash in May 2018. The actress’ friend Lauren Lew also lost her 1-year-old son Joshua in the incident.

On Saturday, Miles shared the happy news on Instagram:

“We’d like to announce our very happy news: We are expecting another child this spring! Thank you especially to the many of you who supported us in the aftermath of the crash, continually lifted us up in prayer, doused us with Love, encouraged us, let us be & grieve these two years… and now rejoice with us in this new life.”

She also added a note dedicated to her girls:

“We know Abigail Joy and Sophia would have loved being big sisters & are loving watching their family grow. Love, Jonathan and RuthieAnn”

On May 16, following the loss of Sophia, the family’s lawyer Ben Rabinowitz issued a statement:

“At the time of the crash Ruthie was pregnant and was severely injured. This past Friday Ruthie and Jonathan lost their baby, Sophia Rosemary Wong Blumenstein. The pain suffered by Ruthie and Jonathan is nearly impossible to fathom. As you might imagine, they are overwhelmed by the sadness of the deaths of their children. Ruthie and Jonathan are grateful for the support of their family and friends but wish and ask that their privacy be respected during their most trying time. Ruthie and Jonathan continue to seek God’s presence, mercy and peace.”

That August, Miles returned to work to reprise her Tony Award-winning role of Lady Thiang in the West End production of the King and I in London.

Three months later in November 2018, Dorothy Bruns, the driver charged with striking and killing Abigail and Joshua in the crash, was found dead of an apparent suicide.

We cannot imagine the last two years have been easy, but this is such a wonderful blessing! And definitely the heartwarming story we all needed to hear right now. Congratulations again, Jonathan and Ruthie Ann!!
