Snoop Dogg wants to set the record straight regarding this whole Gayle King controversy.
As you’ll probably recall, the CBS News journalist has come under metaphorical fire recently after asking basketball legend Lisa Leslie about the late NBA star Kobe Bryant‘s past rape case during an interview about the superstar’s death and legacy. Many people — Snoop included — felt the interview angle was in poor taste, and came out publicly to say so.
Unfortunately for all involved, some of those people also threatened King — which is completely unacceptable. And now, because of all the violent threats flying around this whole controversy, the long-time rapper and superstar is trying to walk back his own criticism.
Snoop Dogg, 48, took to Instagram on Saturday night to post a video explaining his side of the Gayle King controversy, speaking directly to his followers while trying to make his case that he was not threatening the longtime TV reporter and journalist. You can watch Snoop Dogg’s whole video here (below):
In it, the prolific rapper says (below):
“Here’s a message for the people that need to know. I’m a non-violent person. When I said what I said, I spoke for the people who felt like Gayle was very disrespectful towards Kobe Bryant and his family. Now with that being said, what’d I look like want some harm to come to a 70-year-old woman? I was raised way better than that. I don’t want no harm to come to her, I didn’t threaten her. All I did was say check it out, you out of pocket for what you doing and we watching you. Have a little bit more respect for Vanessa, her babies and Kobe Bryant’s legacy. Yeah. But anyway, I’m going to do what I got to keep doing. Y’all keep doing what y’all doing. We’re very non-violent. We just want to say that first and foremost. We speak from the heart. Some of you who have no heart don’t understand that. But anyway, carry on and enjoy your day.”
King is 65 years old, by the way, and not 70 as the rapper claims in that commentary, but Snoop’s clarification stands nevertheless.
What do U think, though, Perezcious readers?! Is this enough to get the trolls off King’s back? Does Snoop bare any responsibility for inciting other people to threats and things like that here, too, or has he absolved himself by apologizing and clarifying his comments with this new post?!
