Two crew members from Below Deck Down Under are out after they both crossed the line of consent.
During the latest episode of the reality series, Captain Jason Chambers fired both Luke Jones, a bosun, and Laura Bileskalne, second steward, for inappropriate behavior.
Keep reading to find out what happened that lead to both of them getting fired, and what they’re saying now…
Here’s what happened, according to People, after a night of partying, Luke, who has naked at the time, attempted to get into third steward Margot Sisson‘s room and bed.
Margot had told chief steward Aesha that she wasn’t in the mood to go into the jacuzzi with everyone there, and wanted to go to bed instead: “All I want is water and bed. No Luke.”
In addition to that incident, Laura also made a few unwanted advances toward Adam Kodra, a deckhand, during the same episode. Producers intervened in both occurrences.
Following their actions, they were both fired from the crew.
“Last night there were boundaries crossed,” Capt. Chambers told Luke after hearing of the incident. “There was indecency, and you went into someone’s else cabin without consent. Unfortunately, I’ve got nothing else but to terminate your employment.”
While Luke was being terminated, Laura was insensitive towards what happened and kept making comments while around Margot.
Captain Chambers was also made aware of Laura‘s actions, not only about her comments, but also of her forcing herself into Adam‘s room without consent.
“Two things: One, Adam feels uncomfortable with some moments out, and he’s tried to say no, and you have not listened to him, and his boundaries to be set,” he told Laura. “I’m trying to move forward as a team. I’m trying to get that behind us, and you’ve brought it straight back up, so in that I’m going to terminate your employment today.”
Following the episode airing, Laura made a statement on her Instagram.
“My sincere apologies to Adam, I did not realize I made him feel uncomfortable and no one should be put in that position,” she wrote, adding, “And to Margot to not been able to empathize. I was 29 when the show was filmed, 30 was my life-changer. I am 31 now and I am watching it as all of you, an entertainment show.”
Luke also seemingly reacted to the episode airing, writing on his Instagram Story: “It doesn’t Matter what they think about you because you don’t Care. Everything we Hear is an Opinion, Not a Fact. Everything we see is a Perspective. Not the Truth. Take Ownership and move forward.”
