In March, Amanda Bynes' conservatorship ended after 8 years.
The former actress put in years of hard work, and is now a free woman who is pregnant by her fiance.
On Thursday, however, Amanda alarmed her fans with claims that her partner was off of his meds, had a stash of illegal drugs, and more.
Things got even messier, and now Amanda has issued a reassuring retraction -- and an apology for the confusion. So what happened?
On Thursday, Amanda Bynes took to her Instagram Stories to post a series of now-deleted accusations.
"Paul told me that he stopped taking his medications," she claimed.
Amanda announced: "I looked at his phone and he was looking at mom-and-son porn."
"He vandalized his mom's home," Amanda announced.
“He broke all of her pictures," she alleged, "and put salmon under her bed."
Amanda continued: "His behavior’s alarming, and I’m afraid of what he’ll do.”
Amanda also reported that she had found what she believed to be Paul Michael's "crack cocaine stash."
She alleged: "He's been using for the past six months."
"He needs serious help," Amanda continued. "I kicked him out of my house."
Indeed, police did confirm that they had shown up early in the morning to Amanda and Paul's home in Los Angeles.
The two were in an argument (with no violence reported, thankfully), and Paul accused Amanda of taking his Adderall.
Officers remained there while the two separated -- which turned out to be a temporary measure.
After Amanda's alarming series of Instagram Stories, Paul said that he didn't know "what the f--k" Amanda was talking about.
"Y’all gotta stop talking your s--t," he expressed to the world.
He added: "You guys don’t f–king know anything."
No one was really going to argue with him there -- genuinely, many of us were perplexed and by our own admission didn't "f--king know anything."
It turned out that Amanda realized that, too.
That is why she ended up having Paul submit to a drug test ... which came back negative on all fronts.
Amanda Bynes opened up to E! News about what turned out to be a massive misunderstanding that spiraled out of control.
"I thought Paul relapsed, but I was wrong," Amanda admitted.
"He drug tested for me from a drug test kit I bought from CVS," she detailed. "The drug test was negative for all substances."
"Paul and I are staying together," Amanda confirmed.
She then expressed: "I am so sorry for the confusion I caused."
Additionally, her attorney also released a statement explaining what happened.
"Amanda and Paul had an argument Wednesday evening," the attorney began.
The statement continued: Amanda left her home, where Paul has been residing, for her safety before the situation escalated."
"She was not there when police arrived," her attorney said, before noting that Amanda is "now back home" and "remains focused on her well-being."
Amanda went on to clarify something else that she had misunderstood.
"Correction: Paul looked up 'MILFs.' 'Moms and sons' just popped up," she explained.
"I misunderstood what Paul looked up online," Amanda said. "It was 'MILFs' in the search engine, and that brought up other content."
Paul followed up with his own statement: "I am now sober from a relapse that may have happened long in the past but I am not using now."
He affirmed: "I drug tested and it was negative. The drug test was clean."
"The relapse was not any significance or a controlled or illegal substance," Paul said. "I am clean for many years."
Paul emphasized that the two are together and working through this confusing moment.
Just to clarify, we're sure that whatever "mothers and sons" thing that popped up featured grown adults who are not related.
Amanda is entitled to feel however she likes about whatever kinks, but a 30-year-old woman pretending to get stuck while doing laundry for a porn skit isn't really a scandal.
Some may want to weaponize this against Amanda and insist that perhaps she still "needed" the conservatorship.
But the only thing "harmed" here was their reputation. No one was hurt. They didn't even break up. This kind of thing happens all of the time for "sane" couples.
We would love to hear an explanation for what Amanda said about Paul's mom's house. Like ... salmon? Girl what?
