He and Michelle did just that, churning out a brood of 19 children.
So curious that a family that is so visible on social media would let his birthday go by without a mention.
Well, there was one mention — by Jessa Duggar Seewald.

“Had a wonderful time yesterday celebrating these birthday buddies!” she captioned the photo below.
The photo depicts Jim Bob and Fern, Jessa’s one-year-old daughter.
As her caption implies, they both share a birthday — July 18.
“Love them both dearly,” Jessa concluded her Instagram caption.
This is not the first time that Jim Bob has received fewer birthday shoutouts than your average Instagram dog.
Last year, he only received a single public tribute from one of his many children.
That time, it was Jedidiah, who was happy to sing his father’s praises … amidst the metaphorical cricket noises.
Even more recently, this pattern has continued with other holidays.
Just last month, Jim Bob heard barely a peep in terms of public posts from his children.
Jinger said something. James said something. Once again, Jessa was the one who did and said the most.
Jessa, you clearly put a lot of work into this, but nobody’s reading all of that.
We are, of course, including Jim Bob in that (admittedly hyperbolic) assessment.
Look, maybe she just had a lot to say. Or maybe Jessa is determined to compensate.
We have all seen dysfunctional families where one relative has wronged the others.
It is only natural for different people to respond in different ways.
In a large enough group, it is all but inevitable that at least one person would double down on loving and admiring them.
Jim Bob has fundamentally failed his family, and it is not through inaction.
He raised his children in a cult, depriving them of basic human rights and countless opportunities in life.
Robbing them of all choices and all options was not a mistake. It was his goal.
Jim Bob also actively enabled Josh Duggar’s crimes, both by covering for him in the past and mandating forgiveness towards him.
Some suspect that this is why he is not getting so many shoutouts these days.
Others think that maybe the family’s sprawling size makes regular birthday posts impossible.
