On Thursday morning, Ricky Martin scored a victory in court after his adult nephew accused him of incest and stalking.
His nephew withdrew his claim before the judge.
Still, this was clearly a difficult time for Martin, whose name and image will struggle to recover despite the withdrawal.
In a new video, Martin is addressing all of this — including his fans and, without naming him, his nephew.
Ricky Martin appeared on a video that TMZ shared now that this crisis is apparently over.
“I’m in front of the cameras today,” the singer began.
He explained “because I really need to talk in order for me to start my healing process.”
“For two weeks, I was not allowed to defend myself,” Martin lamented.
This was “because I was following a procedure where the law obligated me not to talk.”
Martin could not address the public about the allegations or restraining order “until I was in front of a judge.”
“Thank God [these] claims were proven to be false,” Ricky Martin then exclaimed.
“But I’m going to tell you the truth,” he continued.
Martin expressed: “It has been so painful.”
“It has been devastating for me,” Martin acknowledged.
He added that this has been similarly difficult “for my family, for my friends.”
Martin then emphasized: “I don’t wish this upon anybody.”
“To the person that was claiming this nonsense,” Martin continued, “I wish him the best.”
According to Martin’s brother and his attorney, his 21-year-old nephew has been unwell.
“And I wish he finds the help [that he needs],” Martin emphasized.
Martin hopes that he can do this “so he can start a new life filled with love and truth and joy.”
He continued: “and he doesn’t hurt anybody else.”
Meanwhile, Martin continued, “Now, my priority is to heal.”
“And how do I heal? With music,” Martin teased.
He declared: “I cannot wait to be back on stage.”
He gushed: “I cannot wait to be back in front of the cameras, and entertain, which is what I do best.”
“Thank you to all of my friends,” Martin then acknowledged.
“Thank you to all the fans who always believed in me,” he expressed.
“You have no idea the strength that you gave me,” he affirmed, “with every comment you wrote on social media.”
“I wish you love and light and here we come, with the same strength and passion,” Martin vowed.
He concluded his emotionally charged message of gratitude: “God bless you all.”
False accusations are extremely rare, but can be extremely damaging. We remain horrified by this ordeal.
Obviously, there are many things about this accusation that we do not fully understand. Perhaps we never will.
False allegations can arise from motives like blackmail, or be the result of projection or a full-blown delusion.
