Nearly a decade ago, news first broke that actor Ezra Miller would play the Flash in the live-action DC films.

The DCEU has grown at a slow pace. Now, many wonder if we will ever get to see the solo The Flash movie.

Frankly, Miller has been plagued with rumors, a series of alarming incidents, minor criminal charges, and serious but secondhand accusations.

It all started with a 2020 video of a scuffle at a bar, but has gotten worse this year. Now, Miller has released a statement.

In 2020, Miller was involved in a bar scuffle in Iceland, seemingly going overboard while defending themself from a possible “fan.”

2021 passed without incident. 2022 has not done the same.

During the early spring of this year, they were arrested twice. Once, for another scuffle at a karaoke bar. The second time, after throwing a chair at a private gathering.

This month, Miller received a burglary charge stemming from the alleged theft of alcohol from a private residence in May.

Notably, most of this alleged misbehavior took place within a span of weeks during the spring of this year.

Clearly, between March and May, they were seemingly out of control.

Other allegations against Miller are less direct, more vague, but also more sinister.

A pair of parents accused Miller of “grooming” their daughter.

She is currently an adult, and has refuted these claims.

A man accused Miller of keeping his wife and children on Miller’s Vermont property in an unsafe environment.

On the one hand, the woman in question claimed that her husband is abusive, and that Miller provided her family refuge.

At the same time, it did appear that the environment was not baby-proof, with things like ammunition and drugs present on the property.

Thus far, no one has come forward to identify themselves as a victim of anything sexually inappropriate from Miller.

That has nonetheless been the insinuation or outright accusation bandied about on social media.

We all take allegations of that nature very seriously. But false or even premature allegations — the kind made without an actual victim — are dangerous.

Regardless, Miller’s string of bad behavior this spring is genuinely a worry on its own.

As such, they have finally released a public statement — possibly with pressure from Warner Bros Discovery.

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis,,” they began.

“I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues,” Miller acknowledged.

“And,” they continued, “have begun ongoing treatment.”

Miller expressed: “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior.”

“I am committed to doing the necessary work,” Miller vowed.

They are working “to get back to a healthy, safe, and productive stage in my life.”

If this is true, it will be reassuring to many people. Except, perhaps, to those who believe the more serious allegations.

This may be one of those rare instances when studios pressuring an actor results in something good.

Miller’s behavior this spring was criminal and was clearly a cry for help.

Even so … Warner Bros Discovery giving Miller so many chances right after canceling Batgirl has rubbed many the wrong way.
