Anna Marie Tendler is trying to change the narrative after her joke went very wrong!
As you likely know, Taylor Swift kicked off her Eras Tour over the weekend in Arizona, but John Mulaney’s ex-wife wasn’t so thrilled to see the new music come to life on stage — and now she’s (jokingly?!) accusing the musician of ripping her work off! Wait, wut?!
The artist seemingly had a bone to pick with the singer-songwriter after the visuals for her song Tolerate It hit the internet. The performance begins with the 33-year-old setting a table for two… not unlike a 2021 portrait of Anna Marie taken after her bitter divorce from the former SNL writer. In the moody photograph, she sits alone at a dining room table set for two. It’s currently selling on her website for an astounding $5k!

In a now-deleted TikTok, the 37-year-old seemingly called out TayTay for the comparison, writing “what the f**kkkkk?” alongside a clip of the pop star setting a table. The multimedia creator then asked followers:
“Uhh, Taylor, my girl. People who designed Taylor’s tour. This Tolerate It setup looks strikingly like one of my photographs, in tone and in aesthetics. It doesn’t totally feel like parallel thinking to me. I’m a small artist, [an] independent artist who is trying to make money and live off of my artwork. I don’t know what to do about this and maybe somebody can help me?”
Yup, she really put Taylor on blast for setting a table!! Ch-ch-check it out (below)!
@oopsletsdeletethat @annamtendler deleted video. Apparently Taylor using a dining room set on tour is the reason she can’t sell her 5000 art #tswifttok #greenscreen #greenscreenvideo
Quickly, the clip was met with a ton of backlash as viewers tried to figure out whether or not she was being serious. The general consensus was Anna Marie was legitimately upset with the Grammy winner — and haters were PISSED by her take on the concert! They wrote on social media:
“Looks like I’ll be eating dinner on my couch tonight. Don’t want Anna coming for me if I set my table.”
“It’s a table???”
“She said, I own dining tables.”
“She needs help ”
“‘i don’t know what to do about this’ nothing girlie, you are embarrassing yourself. you didn’t invent dining tables as an aesthetic”
“The dress and flowers are completely different… in tone and aesthetics.”
LOLz! Using her words against her!

After the backlash began, Anna Marie was not here for the controversy and deleted the video. She also made her account private, leading many to believe she really was upset over the similar concept. Commenting on a fan’s reuploaded version of her original video, the photographer tried to clear the air, saying:
“Hi! This was meant to be a joke. Most of my videos are jokes or satire! When I realized it wasn’t landing as a joke I deleted it. Didn’t mean offense.”
Unfortunately, her reaction to the criticism didn’t settle things, with some clapping back:
“Ahh the ‘it was a joke’ defense when the thing you meant seriously turned out to be horribly out of touch!”
“she can’t seriously be accusing taylor swift of stealing her idea of setting a table … but sure piggyback off another artist to get your name out there”
Others were on Anna Marie’s side, noting it was “obviously a joke” and those who thought otherwise just couldn’t “read [her] tone.” So, what do YOU think, Perezcious readers? Was this a joke or not?? Sound OFF (below)!
