Drake Bell Threatened Suicide After ‘Falling Out’ With Wife Prior To Going Missing

[Warning: Potentially Triggering Content]

Sounds like the cops did the right thing in this scenario.

As you may have heard, Drake Bell was reported “missing and endangered” earlier this week, with police in Florida announcing he was last seen on Wednesday night in Daytona Beach near Mainland High School.

Interestingly, he’d been spotted by a fan at SeaWorld in Orlando with his son on Tuesday. An insider told TMZ, he was “nice and soft-spoken” and “seemed fine.”  He went missing on Wednesday after he was last seen driving a 2022 gray BMW. Hours after authorities asked for help in finding the Drake & Josh alum, they reported he was safe and they were in contact. Great news and it’s especially good to hear once you know why his family was so concerned in the first place.

On Friday, TMZ obtained a copy of a 911 call made by someone in the Orlando Police Department. It’s a little unclear who they were speaking to as the audio is crackly, but TMZ reported it was someone in another department. The cop explains they have been trying to track down Drake and finally got permission to ping his cell phone, which resulted in a location. Drake’s family in California was deeply concerned for his well-being after he and his wife had “a falling out” and he allegedly expressed suicidal thoughts. The policeman can be heard describing the case as a “possible attempted suicide” before saying:

“Basically, there is a celebrity who had a falling out with his wife. “

Drake has been married to Janet Von Schmeling since 2018 and they share a son, Jeremy, together. They kept their relationship very private, but when the Found a Way vocalist pleaded guilty to two criminal counts of attempted child endangerment and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles for sending inappropriate messages to a then-15-year-old girl in 2017, he clarified his relationship status publicly when photos of he and his child went viral.

The couple experienced trouble in paradise last year and Schmeling seemingly hinted at a split last December. It’s unclear what happened between them, but she said she and her son were living in the Sunshine State. In January, a source told People that Drake was seeking treatment for substance abuse at an outpatient program following the breakup.

Per the 911 call, Drake was having a tough time this week, worrying his family. The cop claimed the 36-year-old had been texting his family in California, the official said:

“[He was] saying that he is going to get drunk and hang himself in a hotel somewhere in Orlando.”

Whoa. We are even more grateful he was found safe. You can hear the harrowing call (below).

Drake has not addressed this 911 call yet, but he did take to Twitter on Thursday to clear the air after it was reported he was missing. He wrote:

“You leave your phone in the car and don’t answer for the night and this?”

While he was seemingly making light of the situation, it’s now more clear than ever that his family and the authorities did the right thing. We hope if these claims are true, Drake gets any necessary support he needs for his mental health.
