Titanic Submarine Passenger Hamish Harding's Friend Reveals the Last Text He Received From Him Before Departure

British billionaire Hamish Harding is one of the reported passengers on board the submarine headed to the Titanic shipwreck location, thousands of feet below the surface.

If you did not see the news, the submarine left on Sunday (June 18) and, as of now, has lost contact with the outside world. Searches are underway for the vessel.

Hamish‘s friend, retired NASA astronaut Colonel Terry Virts, is now speaking out about the last text he received from Hamish.

Terry said that on Saturday, before the submarine left, Hamish texted, “Hey, we’re headed out tomorrow, it looks good, the weather’s been bad so they’ve been waiting for this.”

When asked about the risks associated with this kind of journey, Terry said, “He understood the risks for sure, there’s no doubt about that….He went down to the deepest part of the ocean, set a few world records… at the Mariana Trench [the deepest part of the ocean] and we talked quite a bit about the risks and the different things that they were going to be able to do. So he was very excited about it.”

Among the rumored passengers on board alongside the 58-year-old billionaire are French submersible pilot Paul-Henry Nargeolet and CEO of OceanGate Expeditions, Stockton Rush.

Our continued thoughts are with the passengers, crew, and their loved ones.
