Hunter Biden Charged, Will Plead Guilty to Federal Tax Offenses

President Joe Biden‘s son Hunter Biden has been charged with failing to pay federal income tax and illegally possessing a weapon.

The 53-year-old businessman reached an agreement with the Justice Department whereby he will plead guilty to misdemeanor tax offenses. Hunter is also expected to reach a deal with prosecutors on the felony charge of illegally possessing a firearm.

Prosecutors allege that in 2017 and 2018, Hunter had more than $1.5 million in taxable income, but failed to pay income tax for both of those years.

The criminal charges were filed in the US District Court in Delaware by US Attorney David Weiss.

“I know Hunter believes it is important to take responsibility for these mistakes he made during a period of turmoil and addiction in his life,” Hunter‘s attorney Christopher Clark said, per the AP. “He looks forward to continuing his recovery and moving forward.”

“The President and First Lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life,” the White House counsel’s office said in a statement.
