Britney Spears is releasing a new statement after watching the video of herself being hit by NBA player Victor Wembanyama‘s security guard.
If you missed it, the 41-year-old Princess of Pop was hit by Damian Smith, a security guard who works with Victor‘s NBA team the San Antonio Spurs, when she approached the player in Las Vegas on Wednesday (July 5).
A video of the incident was released on Friday. In it, Britney can be seen tapping Victor on the back before being hit by security. She responded to the moment by shouting “That’s America for you. F-ck you all.”
Britney took to Instagram to speak out on the moment once again and to explain why she reacted the way she did. She also revealed something that she saw in the video that changed her perspective and if she blamed Victor at all.

“I’m not sharing this to be a victim … I SIMPLY GET IT HONESTLY … my reaction was priceless … BAD ??? YES … I’ve had documentaries done about me and none of which I approved … I have felt helpless in most situations and my experience in Vegas and my reaction was a cry out on all levels … I will say it,” Britney wrote, adding that she didn’t feel like she has “been treated as an equal person in this country …”
She continued, writing, “all people could hear was me saying f-ck you all … which was WAY BETTER THAN HITTING HIM BACK 🙄🙄 🙄 !!!”
Britney noted that she was not previously aware of how many people came to support her in the aftermath. “Of course when I watched the video myself … the people who actually swarmed around me when they heard me get hit made me feel like I mattered !!! I wasn’t aware of that at the time,” she wrote.
She also made it clear that she was still cheering for Victor.
“Either way I’m still a huge fan of the NBA player … it’s not his fault his security hit me … s-it happens,” she wrote.
Regarding the moment that she was hit, Britney said it was something she had never experienced in all of her years of fame: “I’ve been working in the industry for years and have been with some of the most famous people in the world … NSYNC at one point were like The Beatles … girls would throw themselves at them everywhere we went … not one time in my life has a security guard ever hit another person !!!”
If you missed it, local police completed an investigation and opted out of charging Damian for assault.
