Michael Cera Keeps It Old School With Flip Phone After Explaining Why He Wasn't On 'Barbie' Group Chat

It seems like a fairly safe bet that Michael Cera isn’t rushing to pick up the new iPhone after it gets announced.

The 35-year-old Juno actor appears to be a bigger fan of old-school technology. We say that because he was spotted out and about on Thursday (July 13) in New York City with a flip phone in hand.

In the new photos, Michael is casually dressed in a pair of shorts and a navy t-shirt. On top of his throwback phone, he’s also got a vintage camera around his neck.

Suddenly, it makes a lot more sense to us why Michael wasn’t on the Barbie group chat!

During a recent interview, the actor revealed that there were actually two reasons he wasn’t on the chat. The first was in fact his phone.

“I don’t have an iPhone myself. … I have a flip phone,” he explained. Even still, he didn’t think that he would have belonged on the chat anyways.

He continued, saying, “Because [my character] Allan is sort of in his own little world. Greta’s gift for me when I arrived was a picture disc of NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, which felt like somehow a real guiding light in the backstory of this character.”

The same interview revealed another key Barbie starred who missed out on a big bonding opportunity with the cast.

Speaking of Michael, did you know that he was once slapped by a major pop star? He opened up about the moment in a recent interview.

Is there any chance you can guess the richest star in Barbie?
