During the scene in question, Rihanna hauls back and slaps Michael across the face in the midst of a party. He assured the outlet that it was not faked.
“She definitely hit me,” he said. Michael stressed that he requested it, though. “But really, I wanted that. I think it’s a lot funnier and a lot more convincing. A fake slap just doesn’t look good, so she hit me hard.”
He continued, emphasizing that Rihanna wasn’t playing around. “Yeah, she really sent me flying, and it was great. And now it’s on film forever, this pain that I experienced.”
This isn’t the first time that the actor has reflected on the iconic slap.
Michael also recalled begging for his role in Barbie and recently revealed the hit movie that was almost his last acting project.
