Celine Dion is 'Doing Everything to Recover' Amid Battle With Stiff Person Disease, According to Sister

Celine Dion‘s sister, Claudette, opened up about the singer’s battle with stiff person syndrome.

The 55-year-old “Because You Loved Me” vocalist revealed that she was diagnosed with the rare neurological disorder in December 2022. She has put plans to tour on pause as she recovers.

In a new interview, Claudette provided some insight into how Celine is doing amid treatment.

“She’s doing everything to recover,” Claudette told HELLO! Canada. “She’s a strong woman.”

She continued, discussing the difficulties of her diagnosis. “It’s an illness we know so little about,” she explained. “There are spasms – they’re impossible to control. You know who people often jump up in the night because of a cramp in the leg or the calf? It’s a bit like that, but in all muscles. There’s little we can do to support her, to alleviate her pain.”

Claudette said that the family and Celine‘s fans are all “crossing our fingers that researchers will find a remedy for this awful illness.”

The star’s sister spoke out earlier this month with another update.

Earlier this year Celine released new music.
