Maren Morris Appears to Take Aim at Jason Aldean's Controversial 'Small Town' Song While Teasing New Music Video

Maren Morris appears to be shading Jason Aldean.

For the past few months, Jason, 46, has faced tons of backlash after releasing his new song “Try That in a Small Town.”

Many said that it was “pro-lynching song” and he’s received backlash for using new coverage of Black Lives Matter protesters in the music video. A portion of the video was filmed in front of a Tennessee courthouse where a Black teen was lynched in the 1920s.

While teasing her upcoming music video, Maren, 33, seemingly took a dig at Jason and his song.

On Thursday (September 7), Maren took to Instagram to share a screenshot of herself looking quite skeptical along with a quick video of a sign that reads, “Welcome to Our Perfect Small Town From Sunrise to Sundown.”

The words “Small Town” are in big, bright red letters, and there’s an image of the American flag behind the words.

Along with the video, there’s an audio clip of Maren singing, “Oooo, do ya hear?”

In the caption, Maren added, “I’m done filling a cup with a hole in the bottom.”

Last year, Maren, who is a strong support of the LGBTQ+ community, and Jason’s wife Brittany were recently involved in a very public online feud over Brittany‘s alleged transphobic comments.

Amid the feud, Maren was called a “lunatic country music person” by conservative Fox News host Tucker Carlon.

Maren turned that Tucker‘s comments into something good, selling “lunatic country music person” shirts to raise money for trans youth.

Sheryl Crow has also called out the lyrics in Jason‘s song.
