Fran Drescher Re-Elected SAG-AFTRA President Amid Strike

Fran Drescher isn’t going anywhere as SAG-AFTRA President.

The 65-year-old actress was re-elected in the position by her peers all while the strike still forges ahead.

According to Deadline, Fran won the election with 23,080 votes compared to independent candidate Maya Gilbert-Dunbar, who received just 5,276 votes.

In addition to Fran’s re-election, Joely Fisher will also return as the guild’s secretary-treasurer. She earned 19,777 votes.

“I am honored to serve my union as president for another term,” Fran shared in a statement. “These are dynamic times and as one member body, we will weather the storms, stand on our principles and make sure our major contributions to this collaborative art form shall never again be diminished but rather be exalted.”

She added, “I want all members to be equal in all ways and I will continue to fight against marginalization and discrimination within our union, from our employers and the world at large.”

Just recently, the guild spoke out about the confusion over the projects granted interim agreements and what they entail.
