
If you were concerned for Olivia Rodrigo after her performance at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, you don’t need to be.
The 20-year-old singer performed a medley of songs at the beginning of the show on Tuesday night (September 12) at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
Olivia began the performance by singing her first GUTS single “Vampire,” but then was rushed off the stage by a crew member. A curtain dropped down while some of her SOUR songs played as background music before she reappeared in a new outfit to perform “Get Him Back.”

The performance was actually a recreation of Olivia‘s “Vampire” music video where the same exact thing happens. She was ushered off stage while fireworks went off around her, mimicking what happened in the music video. It was all planned!
