The outlet reported that the charges stem from “False Statement in Purchase of a Firearm, one count of False Statement Related to Information Required to be Kept By Federal Firearms Licensed Dealer and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Person who is an Unlawful User of or Addicted to a Controlled Substance.”

The news comes after Hunter pled not guilty in a tax crime case back in July. His plea came after a plea deal fell through, which would have seen him plead guilty to misdemeanor tax offenses.

Back in June when the plea deal was announced, it was believed that Hunter would also reach a deal about his possession of a firearm.

TMZ noted that in 2018, Hunter allegedly reported that he was not using drugs when he purchased a firearm. He is also said to have had a gun with him while under the influence.

The news comes following the revelation that Republicans in the House of Representatives are opening an impeachment inquiry into President Biden.
