Brian Austin Green is opening up about fatherhood.
The 50-year-old Beverly Hills, 90210 alum admitted that raising his “out and gay and proud” son Kassius, 21, was initially a “challenge” on the latest episode of the Frosted Tips with Lance Bass podcast.
“It has been a challenge. Honestly, it was unknown for me,” he explained.

“I think a lot of people are afraid of the unknown, whereas I’m not. To me, it’s intriguing. And I want to learn about it.”
He and his oldest child “would get into these conservations” where Brian “really wanted to understand the things that seemed so different … at first” — only to realize that raising an LGBTQIA+ child “isn’t different at all” from raising a straight one.

“It’s just your choice of partner. It doesn’t affect me at all. That’s the thing I’m always trying to beat into people now — it does not affect you. Why do you care so much? And why are you trying to somehow bully your feelings and your opinion into something that literally does not affect you at all?”
“So many kids out there don’t get that. And even if their parents accept them, there [are] a lot of times when the kid still knows that they still disagree with it,” Lance Bass noted, who came out in 2006.
Kassius has been open about his love life via social media since 2019. Brian shared a photo with Kassius taken by now-fiancee Sharna Burgess for Father’s Day in 2021.
