Britney Spears Calls Out Ryan Seacrest For Questioning If She Was A ‘Fit’ Mom In 2007 Interview!

Britney Spears is leaving no stone left unturned — and no critic left unburned!

Ryan Seacrest is the latest subject revealed in the Gimme More singer’s crusade for truth through her tell-all memoir, The Woman in Me, which is now available on bookshelves. And boy does she have a bone to pick with the prolific presenter!

16 years ago at the height of her very public divorce from ex-husband Kevin Federline, their custody battle over sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, and her own battle with mental health, the pop sensation also had another major life event rolling out simultaneously: an album release.

In October 2007, Britney released her critically acclaimed record Blackout. As part of the promo tour, she joined the American Idol host on live radio for what she believed was going to be an interview about her latest piece of work — but what she quickly realized was an opportunity for the host to grill her about losing custody of her two sons. She wrote:

“In the interview which was supposed to be about the record, Ryan Seacrest asked me questions like ‘How do you respond to those who criticize you as a mom’ and ‘Do you feel like you’re doing everything you can for your kids?’ and ‘How often will you see them?’”

She continued:

“It felt like that was the only thing people wanted to talk about: whether or not I was a fit mother. Not about how I’d made such a strong album while holding two babies on my hips and being pursued by dozens of dangerous men all day every day.”

Ugh, what an isolating time for Brit, especially given the fact that mainstream media at the time portrayed her so poorly — which she also addressed in her book. She wrote:

“My management team quit. A bodyguard went to court with Gloria Allred by his side as a witness in the custody case. He said I was doing drugs; he wasn’t cross-examined. A court-appointed parenting coach said that I loved my children and that we were clearly bonded. She also said that there was nothing at all in my home that could be called abuse. But that part didn’t make headlines.”

Wow. It sounds like Britney feels really let down by the press, which had previously praised her as the princess of pop. We’re glad that she’s finally getting to share her side of the story. You can ch-ch-check out the interview in question (below):

As of now, Ryan has not made any public statements about the Baby One More Time singer’s mention of him, but it seems as though she doesn’t hold too much ill will, as she’s done more interviews with him in the years since.
