Meghan Markle Receives Harsh Criticism From Close Friend of Queen Elizabeth II: I Feel …

It’s been over three years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their roles as senior members of the royal family.

The couple received a good deal of flak at the time, as many felt that they were turning their backs on their duty to the people of the UK.

(For obvious reasons, folks on this side of the pond were far less likely to criticize.)

Many hoped that the passage time would heal the rift between these two factions of the family, but instead, the tension has only increased over the past year.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have endured numerous PR setbacks in recent months, beginning with the mixed reaction to Harry’s memoir.

Recent appearances at the Invictus Games and a mental health summit in New York City seem to have done little for the couple’s public image.

In fact, a recent Newsweek poll indicates that Meghan is less popular than ever among Americans.

And now, a prominent royal associate has added her voice to the growing chorus of anti-Sussex critics.

Lady Glenconner was a lifelong friend of Queen Elizabeth II who served as one of the late monarch’s six maids of honor at her 1953 Coronation.

Glenconner was also lady-in-waiting to the monarch’s sister Princess Margaret.

In fact, it could be said that not one currently living has witnessed quite as much of Windsor history as the 91-year-old noblewoman who stunned the world this week by offering some very candid thoughts about the Duchess of Sussex.

“I think the thing about Meghan was, she had no idea what was expected of her really,” Glenconner said of Meghan on the “Rosebud With Gyles Brandreth” podcast this week.

“I think she just thought it was sort of like being another actress, you know.”

Glenconner noted that being a member of the royal family can be “extremely boring,” and Meghan might have mistakenly thought that the gig would be more glamorous.

Shew explained that most of the royals’ days are spent “meeting hundreds of thousands of people that you’re never going to meet again,” all with big smiles on their faces.

“I think it was very sad and I feel very sad for Harry,” she said.

Glenconner added that she believes that opinion is shared “in America.”

She bases that theory on a conversation she had with former secretary of state John Kerry at the coronation of King Charles III.

“He said, ‘We all feel very, very sorry for Harry,’” she recalled. “I think I can just leave it at that.”

Of course, Kerry’s comment could have been interpreted in any number of ways, and he obviously doesn’t speak for all Americans.

Still, Lady Glenconner’s remarks are the latest in a seemingly endless barrage of bad press for Harry and Meghan, and we’re sure they’re beginning to feel the strain of this constant negativity.
