Howard University fully cut ties with Diddy!
The college announced on Friday that it would rescind the honorary degree the disgraced rapper received all the way back in 2014. A spokesperson for the trustees said in a statement that Diddy is “no longer worthy” of the honor, specifically citing the horrific video of him brutally abusing then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura that resurfaced last month as the reason:
“The Howard University Board of Trustees voted unanimously today to accept the return by Mr. Sean Combs of the honorary degree conferred upon him in 2014. This acceptance revokes all honors and privileges associated with the degree. Accordingly, the Board has directed that his name be removed from all documents listing honorary degree recipients of Howard University. Mr. Combs’ behavior as captured in a recently released video is so fundamentally incompatible with Howard University’s core values and beliefs that he is deemed no longer worthy to hold the institution’s highest honor. The University is unwavering in its opposition to all acts of interpersonal violence.”

Not only is Howard University revoking his honorary degree, but it also is “immediately” returning a $1 million donation from him! Wow! That’s when you know the board really wants absolutely nothing connecting the school to Diddy moving forward! The spokesperson said:
“The Board has also directed the University administration to immediately take the following actions: terminate a 2016 gift agreement with Mr. Combs, disband the scholarship program in his name, return his $1 million contribution, and terminate a 2023 pledge agreement with the Sean Combs Foundation.”
However, the college made it clear that “no payments toward the $1 million pledge have been due or made by the Sean Combs Foundation as of this date, therefore no funds are due to be returned under the 2023 pledge agreement.” See the statement (below):
Today, Howard University announced that the Board of Trustees has unanimously voted to accept the return of Sean Combs' honorary degree, originally conferred in May 2014. The vote took place during a regularly scheduled board meeting.

As we mentioned, a video was released in May showing the 54-year-old music mogul assaulting Cassie in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel in 2016. The surveillance footage corroborated allegations the singer made against Diddy in a now-settle lawsuit from November 2023, in which she accused him of sex trafficking and physical and sexual abuse throughout their decade-long relationship. Days after the footage dropped, Diddy — who initially denied her claims — apologized for the “inexcusable incident.”
Ever since her lawsuit, six other people have come forward to sue him over similar claims of rape, abuse, and trafficking. He denied all of those allegations as well. Diddy is also facing a federal sex trafficking investigation, with both of his homes in Los Angeles and Miami having been raided by Homeland Security in March. At this time, he has not been charged with any crime. Meanwhile, the LA County District Attorney’s Office cannot bring charges against the Bad Boy Records founder over the “extremely disturbing” Cassie abuse video due to the statute of limitations.
With all these legal troubles, it’s no wonder Howard University doesn’t want to be associated with him! Reactions to the college’s decision, Perezcious readers? Sound OFF in the comments below!
