Sandra Bullock is ready to start putting herself out there again… in more ways than one!
It’s been almost a year since the actress’ boyfriend of eight years, Bryan Randall, died at age 57 after a private battle with ALS. Since the devastating loss, Sandra has pulled back from the spotlight and work opportunities to spend time with her children, Louis, 14, and Layla, 11. (Bryan also had an older daughter, Skylar, 30). But after taking time to heal, she’s preparing to dive back into work and dating.
Not only was it announced that she will be making a Practical Magic sequel with Nicole Kidman, but she joined her Speed co-star Keanu Reeves for a very rare podcast appearance, talking the action classic on the 50 MPH podcast in early May — expressing hopes to do another project together. These are just the first signs she’s getting back out there.

A source told Us Weekly on Wednesday:
“Sandra’s gradually reemerging into public life.”
After turning 60 last week, she’s especially “excited” for what’s to come, they added:
“She’s excited about what the future holds. She’s ready to get back in the game.”
As Perezcious readers may remember, Sandra announced she’d be going on a hiatus back in March 2022 while promoting her film The Lost City. Back then, she said she just needed some time to relax and be with family — nobody realized she was actually stepping back to care for her ailing partner. Not exactly the kind of break anyone wanted her to have, but the time with her loved ones proved incredibly important, a second insider noted:
“Sandra needed the break to be with her family and Bryan.”
Losing the photographer “has been one of the hardest experiences Sandra’s gone through,” the first source continued. She’s been leaning on her close friends, such as Jennifer Aniston, to get through the difficult time, a third insider shared:
“Everyone from family to close Hollywood friends stepped up to help her in any way they could, and she’s forever grateful for that.”
So important! Now, because “Sandra missed acting,” the first source said, she’s ready to do what she does best. Along with trying to work with Keanu again, the third source said she’s talked about doing projects with other former co-stars like Ryan Reynolds, Channing Tatum, and Hugh Grant. The first confidant explained:
“Sandra values working with longtime friends in the industry.”
She also plans on executive producing more. Fun! In the meantime, her kids are a top priority, a fourth source dished:
“Sandra’s a really hands-on mom. The kids are involved in sports, and Sandra attends all their games. They all love the outdoors and go on bike rides and hikes together.”
Love it! And it’s so important for her children to have her support as they deal with their own grief, too.
Showing just how far this family has come since last summer’s loss, the first source said The Blind Side alum is “open to the possibility” of dating in the future, but for now, she’s “healing slowly, keeping Bryan’s memory alive and focusing on her children.” There’s no rush! But when the timing is right or she feels sparks with someone, it’s nice to know she may open herself up to love again!
Despite dealing with the heartbreak of her loss, “Sandra views turning 60 as a [time] for reflection,” the first source acknowledged, with the third elaborating:
“From Sandra’s perspective, apart from a couple of lucky breaks, [her career] is the result of very hard work by her and her team. In that sense, turning 60 really is something to celebrate.”
She has so much to be proud of — from her work onscreen to the family she’s built and how strong she’s been while dealing with this painful situation. We’re just so glad to hear she’s doing well! She’s been through so much!
