Christy Martin is in Sydney Sweeney’s corner.
Sydney is the star and producer of the newly released biopic Christy — a film about the now-openly gay boxer, which virtually no one is seeing in theaters. On Tuesday, Ruby Rose absolutely SLAMMED the Anyone But You star for taking on the titular role — you know, in the wake of her becoming the face of the anti-woke young conservative movement. She wrote on Threads:
“For her PR to talk about it flopping and saying SS did it for the ‘people’. None of ‘the people’ want to see someone who hates them, parading around pretending to be us. You’re a cretin and you ruined the film. Period. Christy deserved better.”
However, Christy herself doesn’t share the same attitude. The 57-year-old retired boxer has come in swinging in defense of the Euphoria star!

On Wednesday, she took to Instagram to share her support for Sydney, whom she dubbed an “ally.” She wrote:
“I’ve always been a fighter. My life reflected that in every way and now I fight for others. The past few days I have seen some people attack my friend Sydney Sweeney. Syd not only worked her ass off for this film, she worked her ass off for me. For my story. For so many others suffering in silence. So I want to be clear about who Syd is. She is my friend and ally!”
