Zac Efron’s Early Singing Voice In High School Musical Demo Shocks Fans: ‘OMFG MY EARS!!’

Zac Efron‘s early High School Musical vocals have fans soarin’ and flyin’ with opinions! LOLz!

On Tuesday, a clip started making its rounds on social media that ALLEGEDLY contains Zac’s original demo for his 2005 hit movie. Real fans know it wasn’t Zac who sang in the actual movie — Canadian actor/singer Drew Seeley provided Troy Bolton’s iconic vocals. And, of course, with everything polished and fixed in the movie, it sounded flawless!

But now we’re getting to hear what’s supposedly Zac’s voice, not Drew’s, for the movie’s hit song Get’cha Head In The Game… The original post reads:

“20 years after the release we can finally hear his voice. With the date from June 2005 the song has some different adlibs and the instrumental was still under production.”

Watch for yourself (below):

Wow… Not what we expected! Ha!

For a refresher and comparison, here’s what the final cut of Drew’s vocals ended up sounding like in the Disney film.

Definitely MUCH different, that’s for sure.

The original account who first shared the post has since deleted the video… And sadly, it was likely due to some HARSH fan reactions! We mean, OMG, these are brutal:

“This sounds a mess”

“OMFG MY EARS!!”

“Drew Seeley leaked this. I don’t have proof but i just know he did.”

“zac is genuinely so lucky he could act well enough that they waited for him to step his vocal cookies up for the second movie….because this was simply not gonna work”

“ouuu everybody say thank you drew seeley cause this sounds…”

But some people DID come to Zac’s defense, writing:

“My biggest unpopular opinion is that he doesn’t sound bad at all. We’re just too used to Drew’s version it sounds kinda weird, plus, the part of “my head’s in the game but my heart’s in the song…” is different than the final version so yeah it’s funny, but Zac actually ATE”

“His voice wasn’t even bad. But they just didn’t wanna help him out (wasn’t until he did hairspray)”

this wasn’t as bad as i expected it to be comparing this to how he sounds in hsm2, hsm3, hairspray and the greatest showman, i’m really glad he stuck with it and put the work in”

They have a point! If these really ARE his early vocals, he came a long way. To this day HSM fans are still rocking out to Scream from High School Musical 3: Senior Year, which truly showcases his vocal growth.

But what do YOU think, Perezcious readers? Were his early demos really that bad, or are we just used to hearing polished, perfect sounds? Let us know (below).
