Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are in a brand new era, and it comes with a lot of uncharted territory for them!
As we all watched, the Kansas City Chief‘s NFL season came to a crash and burn earlier this month as the team struggled to find their groove. It was a far cry from the football high Travis was riding when they first started dating! And now with Travis weighing whether or not he’ll step on the field again, it’s been a stressful few months for the pair!

Speaking to DailyMail.com on Friday, an insider explained that the lovebirds are facing their first real “test” in their romance! The source explained:
“Travis is a bit defeated right now. He is used to still be playing, and he is missing not being on the field, which might bode well for his fans and the Chiefs if he decides to play another year.”
It’s expected that he’ll make the decision sooner rather than later, the source pointed out:
“Travis will make the Chiefs well aware of his future plans by early March. … We will know a few weeks after the Super Bowl if he will be returning or not. That is his timeline that he has set to make a decision to play one more year or not.”
Until then, he’s leaning on the pop star to get him through this rocky time in his career. Because of that, she’s put all thoughts of their nuptials on the back burner and is focusing on “trying to put him in a better mood,” the source revealed:
“Taylor understands that this is the first real test of their relationship. … They have been together and in love and have enjoyed the success of her tour and career and his Super Bowls and his career. Travis hasn’t been in this position before where he is staring at his future with complete 20/20 vision.”
Oof.
They went on:
“Taylor is trying to put him in a better mood by spending more time with him and not bombarding him with wedding plans. … She would want him to focus on [the wedding] after he makes his career decision because she knows how important that is to him.”
Sounds like she’s doing exactly what a good partner should! Maybe she’s even a help to him as he contemplates retirement? Travis already keeps busy with his podcast New Heights and he’s been dipping his town into Hollywood with some big offers headed his way. We bet talking things through with an industry icon is helpful!
Addressing his future new career, the source concluded:
“Things are changing; he is getting to the end of what he has known all his life and dealing with potential retirement, marriage and a future family with sprinkles of a whole new life in TV.”
Retirement’s not sounding so bad when you put it like that!
That said, we wonder if it’s stressful not to be wedding planning? Sources for Rob Shuter‘s #Shuterscoop on Wednesday revealed they’re “not even halfway through the guest list” and have put everything “on hold” for the retirement decision. They elaborated:
“Right now it’s more about enjoying time together than crunching spreadsheets.”
Rumors are they’re planning to get married on June 13 at Ocean House in Rhode Island. That’s gonna come quick! But there’s already enough on Travis’ plate as it is, a source noted:
“Travis is still figuring out if he’s playing next year. They don’t want to stress over a wedding when there’s so much else going on.”
Another confidant shared:
“Taylor is usually so meticulous about every detail, but with Travis, she’s relaxed. They’re taking it slow. The wedding isn’t stressing them out yet — they’re savoring the engagement.”
One close friend chimed in:
“The ring’s on, but that’s about as far as it goes. No big meetings, no seating charts. They’re in date-night mode, not wedding mode.”
Laughing, the source said:
“They’ll get to the planning, but right now, it’s all about them.”
Hey, there’s no rush! Everything will work out the way it’s meant to. They have more important things to be focusing on right now — like figuring out Trav’s next steps and, frankly, enjoying some rare downtime together! Hopefully, the next few weeks aren’t too stressful for the athlete!
