Courteney Cox and her bangs are getting in the Halloween spirit!
Anyone who’s ever seen the Scream movies knows Scream 3 is the weakest in the series for many reasons. Sure, we could talk about the ridiculous voice scrambler which magically disguises the killer’s voice as other characters, or how its ending kind of ruins the ending of the first film.
But we all know the real reason Scream 3 is less than perfect: Gale Weathers’ comically short bangs (as seen above).

As you definitely recall, Cox was sporting an unforgettable ‘do in the third installment of the horror franchise, with fringe that looked like they came from Ghostface’s barbershop.
Now, almost two decades later, the actress is paying tribute to her iconic bangs — and we’re pretty sure she won Halloween because of it.
The Friends alum took to social media on Thursday to share she was rewatching the film to get in the spooky spirit. After insisting she didn’t think there was anything wrong with Gale’s “infamous bangs,” she panned the camera to a TV playing the film and admitted:
“I think they’re pretty cool.”
So cool, Cox was inspired to take out a pair of scissors and recreate the scary-short look on herself (yes, really) — and things only got scarier from there!

Okay, we officially crown Courteney as the 2019 Hallo-Kween.
For years, it was unclear what led to the star’s short bangs in the 2000 horror classic. But, earlier this year, it was finally revealed who’s to blame for the hated haircut: Cox’s ex-husband and Scream 1-4 costar, David Arquette.
Back in February 2019, the actor stumbled across an Instagram meme reading, “If you ever feel like s**t, just remember Courteney Cox’s hair in Scream 3,” and confessed he was the one who suggested the infamous style.
He commented:
“I have to take the fall for this. I suggested a Bettie Page look. It just didn’t work. I take full responsibility.”
Way to own up to it, Dewey!
As fans will remember, the former couple initially met on the set of the first Scream film in 1996 and married in 1999 before divorcing in 2013. Their on-screen-turned-off-screen romance will live in our memories forever, as will Court’s Scream 3 bangs.
