Hailey Bieber Gets Candid About Married Life With Justin & How They Got Through ‘Hard’ Seasons Together!

Being a wife has already put Hailey Bieber through some tough seasons, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

The 23-year-old beauty opened up about her marriage to Justin Bieber in an interview with Elle, on which she graces the cover of the mag’s March 2020 issue. During the chat, Hails revealed the quality time she spends with the singer is actually pretty relatable: they like to cuddle, play with their cats, Sushi and Tuna, and watch Friends reruns.

The couple also tries to keep a no-phones-in-bed policy, as she told the mag:

“I definitely enjoy being home more than I enjoy being away. I try to read more than be on my phone in bed. We have a rule: No phones in bed unless it’s absolutely necessary.”

If you think the pair — who met in 2009 at one of Justin’s concerts before dating on and off from 2014 to 2018 — already sound like an old married couple, Hailey would agree with you.

The supermodel recalled being “shocked” by how much the Baby singer had grown up when they officially reconnected a few years ago, telling the glossy:

“I think I had grown up a lot, too. He was somebody I’d always cared about so deeply and loved very deeply. Obviously, it took work and getting past things between the two of us, but it was all very worth it. He’s an incredible, amazing man and such a good partner to go through life with. There is no one else I would have ever wanted to spend my life with except him. So, I’m lucky.”

However, the first year of their marriage was hit with bouts of misfortune. As the Canadian crooner recently revealed, he had been suffering from Lyme disease that went diagnosed until late last year.

Apparently, Biebs received multiple treatments that only made his symptoms worse, which gave their married lives a stressful start. Hailey explained:

“When we first got married, we were just figuring out our life together. I felt like putting a wedding in the middle of all of that would be really hectic and stressful. He was really sick. He has Lyme disease, and he was dealing with a bunch of medical stuff. We didn’t have a diagnosis.”

To make matters worse, the star was being mocked by the masses.

Stephen Baldwin’s daughter continued:

“And it was hard because everybody from the outside was being super mean and judgmental, saying he looked like he was on drugs, saying how unhealthy he looked, when in truth, he was not healthy and we didn’t know why. It was months of me being a new wife trying to help him figure out what was wrong and what was going on. Now he’s perfectly healthy. But going through that and then trying to be like, ‘So where does our wedding fit into this?’ didn’t feel like the vibe at all.”

Thankfully, the couple relied on their faith in God to get them through those tough seasons.

Both are devout Christians and members of Hillsong United, a megachurch that Hailey started attending at the age of 16. Reflecting on how her spiritual journey has intertwined with Justin’s, she said:

“That’s been a cool journey for me. Being able to share that with each other—to have that bond of faith and spirituality—is so [critical] for [me and Justin]. It’s the most important part of our relationship, following Jesus together, being a part of the church community together. It’s everything.”

Sounds like the couple’s faith has really gotten them through some tough times. See how strong and stunning she looks in Elle‘s spread (below):
