James Van Der Beek Reveals Wife Kimberly Suffered Another Miscarriage At 17 Weeks

We’re sad to report yet another heartbreaking loss for James Van Der Beek‘s family.

On Saturday, the Dawson’s Creek star took to Instagram and revealed his wife Kimberly Van Der Beek had been pregnant, but sadly, she suffered another miscarriage just 17 weeks into her pregnancy.

Van Der Beek told followers he was reluctant to share the couple’s pregnancy news after going through the same painful ordeal this past November while he was competing on Dancing With the Stars. However, the couple has always been transparent about their struggles to conceive and decided to open up about it once again. His lengthy caption began:

“After suffering a brutal, very public miscarriage last November, we were overjoyed to learn we were pregnant. This time, we kept the news to ourselves. But last weekend, once again, 17 weeks in… the soul we’d been excited to welcome into the world had lessons for our family that did not include joining us in a living physical body.”

James continued by sharing that they rushed his wife to the hospital “for another harrowing night of blood transfusions,” likely brought on by complications with her pregnancy. He added that while trying to be by his wife’s side “something kept running through my head, again and again,” and shared a special message of hope with fans:

“We’ve got to take better care of each other. The world is in pain right now. There’s denial, shock, numbness, anger – all the old patterns we cling to when deep trauma is unearthed. And there are no words to ease that pain… to make the process hurt less or to solve it quickly. But the way out of it? Starts with an open, broken-hearted contemplation of this question: How can we take better care of each other?”

The 43-year-old actor concluded by letting other families in their position know they are “not alone.” You can see the somber set of photos he shared featuring his wife and one of their kids (below):

After suffering a brutal, very public miscarriage last November, we were overjoyed to learn we were pregnant. This time, we kept the news to ourselves. But last weekend, once again, 17 weeks in… the soul we’d been excited to welcome into the world had lessons for our family that did not include joining us in a living physical body. • We rushed @vanderkimberly to the hospital by ambulance for another harrowing night of blood transfusions. And as I stood by, grateful for the good people who navigated the maze of regulations to save her life – but helpless to do much for the woman I loved other than massage her feet and try to keep her warm (with my #DWTS robe, ironically) – something kept running through my head, again and again, which I now feel compelled to share: • We’ve got to take better care of each other. • The world is in pain right now. There’s denial, shock, numbness, anger – all the old patterns we cling to when deep trauma is unearthed. And there are no words to ease that pain… to make the process hurt less or to solve it quickly. But the way out of it? Starts with an open, broken-hearted contemplation of this question: • How can we take better care of each other? • And to all the families who have gone through this… you are not alone. 🌈

Ugh, how incredibly sad…

As we mentioned earlier, it’s been a tough road to baby number six for the pair, who are already parents to five children: Olivia, 9, Joshua, 8, Annabel, 6, Emilia, 4, and Gwendolyn, 1. Following their reported miscarriage, the Varisty Blues actor shared via IG that he and his wife Kimberly were “still in repair” after their first miscarriage:

“Still in repair. Discovering that healing happens at its own pace. Not the pace you’d like, and definitely not the pace at which the world keeps on moving… But it happens. And there’s beauty in allowing yourself to be exactly where you’re at. (Plus, it’s not like you really have a choice, anyway.)”

Our thoughts are with their family during this difficult time.
