A very wise woman once said, “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” and we sure hope she’s taking her own advice these days!
That’s right, we’re talking about Kelly Clarkson, who’s reportedly staying very busy and focused amid her divorce from husband Brandon Blackstock. While the singer has yet to publicly address the split, sources close to the situation say she’s pushing forward in all areas of her life as the separation plays out.

One insider divulged about her “resilient” attitude to People:
“Kelly is a doer, a pusher, someone who forges ahead even when it’s difficult for her. Being busy is a blessing and she knows that.”
All things considered — including the global pandemic we’re still experiencing — Clarkson remains hard at work on her NBC daytime talk show and is gearing up for the new season of The Voice. The songstress is also still working on her upcoming ninth studio album, following the release of her single I Dare You earlier this year. The source added:
“Music builds her up even if her songs are confronting her troubles. Kelly will come out of this a stronger person.”
Cue her 2011 hit song of the same name, please! It appears that feel-good anthem has become so relevant in her life once again.
The 38-year-old raised eyebrows late last month during the Daytime Emmy Awards when she publicly thanked her music manager ex on Twitter after scoring the trophy for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host. While the gesture surprised us all, a different source from her inner circle says Kelly will always be grateful for her estranged husband’s support throughout her multi-faceted career:
“Brandon’s confidence in her talent and his ability to push the right buttons for her has been great for her career. Kelly’s excited, proud and grateful.”
Good for her. This definitely points towards an amicable dynamic for the co-parents in the near future, fingers crossed!
As we reported, Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock earlier in June after nearly seven years of marriage together, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The now-former couple shares two kids — daughter River Rose, 6, and son Remington Alexander, 4. Brandon is also father to son Seth, 13, and daughter Savannah, 18, from a previous marriage. The American Idol alum has already requested for the pair’s prenup to be enforced and would like joint custody of their children.

Another confidant previously told the outlet that Kelly has every intention of shielding her little ones from the painful reality of her divorce because she went through similar trauma at a young age:
“She had to work through a lot of hurt from her childhood. Her priority is making sure her children grow up in a stable, loving environment.”
They also said she’s hoping to maintain a connection to her teenage step-children, which is certainly nice to hear:
“She’s always thought of Seth and Savannah as her own too, and she has a special relationship with both of them. Kelly wants to remain close with her step-kids.”
Here’s to hoping their family can peacefully figure things out moving forward!
