Lili Reinhart Candidly Opens Up About Coming Out As Bisexual

Lili Reinhart is opening up about her bisexuality, and why she chose to come out when she did!

As you may recall, the Riverdale star recently announced that she was bisexual, sharing on her Instagram Story that she would be attending a LGBTQ+ Black Lives Matter Protest in West Hollywood as a “proud bisexual woman.” She wrote in the text of her post at the time:

“Although I’ve never announced it publicly before, I am a proud bisexual woman. And I will be joining this protest today. Come join.”

The 23-year-old spoke with Flaunt magazine about her decision to come out in early June, which came after she felt solidarity with her peers while protesting with members of the LGBTQ community in light of the heightened Black Lives Matter movement:

“I knew full well that I was attracted to women from a young age. I felt that since I’ve exclusively been in hetero-normative relationships, it would be too easy for any outsider, especially the media, to vilify me and accuse me of faking it to get attention.”

It may have been a surprise to the world when Reinhart announced her sexual orientation, especially since it was just after her split from longtime BF Cole Sprouse, but to those in her inner circle, this wasn’t a surprise at all! She added:

“That’s not something I wanted to deal with. But to my close friends, and those in my life, my bisexuality has been no secret.”

The Betty Cooper portrayer also opened up about what it’s been like being in the public eye amid the BLM movement, sharing of her activism:

“I felt that I wasn’t doing enough. And I felt that it was lame to keep reposting what everyone else is posting so I asked myself: ‘Okay, what do I have to offer?'”

Reinhart continued:

“I definitely learned a lot from the conversations I’ve been having. While it’s important to be an ally in this movement, Black voices cannot be muffled by other voices. This is their time to be heard. White people have to acknowledge their f**king privilege, which exists, and is very real. It’s important that we don’t just sit on our asses and let someone else fight this fight for us because it involves absolutely everyone.”

Sounds like she’s really putting in the work to be a better ally!
