During a video conference with staff on Monday, the 62-year-old admitted she “wasn’t perfect,” a source who was on the call shared with People. The host added:

“I’m a multi-layered person, and I try to be the best person I can be and I try to learn from my mistakes. I’m hearing that some people felt that I wasn’t kind or too short with them, or too impatient. I apologize to anybody if I’ve hurt your feelings in any way.”

A second insider explained more about DeGeneres’ demeanor during the video call:

“Ellen was emotional, she was emphatic about making it better and making herself more available.”

The confidant continued (below):

“She acknowledged she can be introverted at times and she apologized if that was ever seen as hurtful. They’re putting in real structures and resources for people so this never happens again and that is extremely important to Ellen. She was emotional seeing everybody. They’re family.”

In addition to the removal of the three top producers, there was an additional staffing shake-up with Stephen “tWitch” Boss who defended the comedienne recently being promoted from DJ to co-executive producer. Per a report by Variety on Monday, executive producers Andy Lassner, Mary Connelly, and Derek Westervelt, who have all been with the show since it premiered in 2003, will remain in their roles.

Another source revealed to People that the longtime host told staff “she’s been dying to see them, that she couldn’t because of the investigation and she really wanted them to hear from her that this is a reset, things are changing and things are going to be better moving forward. And she’s committed to that.”

Additional insiders on the call shared with Deadline that the Finding Nemo star was “emotional but emphatic” and “vowed to interact more with her staffers” following specific accusations that she did not want to be looked in the eye and created a culture of fear on-set.

Leman and Norman have publicly denied the allegations against them, while Glavin has yet to address them. What do U make of the latest updates in this saga, y’all?! Let us know (below) in the comments.
