Hot on the heels of Wonder Woman 1984 coming out this past week, we have some news to report about the next film in the franchise. Simply put, Warner Bros. is anxious to get another sequel out into the world, and have made some moves in that direction. Reports today have WB signing up Gal Gadot to return as the title character and filmmaker Patty Jenkins back as writer/director for the impending trilogy. Exciting news for fans of the series, that’s for sure. Read on for more, though keep in mind, this is literally just the first word on a Wonder Woman 3. According to Variety, Gadot and Jenkins are on board to return for Wonder Woman 3. The former was almost a sure thing, though the latter had mentioned that she wasn’t sure if she’d be back. Especially with her impending work on Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, it was a question. Well, that question has now been answered. At the very least, they’re planning on completing a trilogy for WB. The announcement comes on the heels of the release of “Wonder Woman 1984,” the studio’s superhero sequel that debuted on the company’s streaming service and in select movie theaters on Christmas Day. Warner Bros. said the third “Wonder Woman” movie will have a traditional theatrical release. “As fans around the world continue to embrace Diana Prince, driving the strong opening weekend performance of ‘Wonder Woman 1984,’ we are excited to be able to continue her story with our real life Wonder Women — Gal and Patty — who will return to conclude the long-planned theatrical trilogy,” said Warner Bros. chief Toby Emmerich.
