Amanda Seyfried confirmed that she will not be attending the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival to promote her movie Seven Veils amid the SAG-AFTRA strike.
The 37-year-old actress received permission to promote the movie since it’s an independent project. She took to social media to explain why she didn’t feel comfortable doing so.

“I am SO PROUD of this movie and it hurts my heart not to stand next to the beautiful people who helped create this special film at our @tiff_net premiere next week,” Amanda wrote in a post on Instagram.
Despite having permission to “promote this fully, magically independent Canadian movie,” she wrote that “it doesn’t feel right to head to the fest in light of the strike.”
“I can’t wait to show you all SEVEN VEILS when the time is right (and we’ve come to a fair agreement for actors and writers),” Amanda promised. She thanked the film festival in the accompanying caption.
So far, we know that six actors and three directors will be attending the festival, which will run from September 7 until September 17. Twelve other stars will definitely not be in attendance.
