Hollywood history is filled with tales of A-listers who fell from grace and were forced to return to the workaday world.
But perhaps none of the previous human cautionary tales plummeted back down to earth quite as rapidly as Armie Hammer.
As recently as last year, Hammer was still being cast in big-budget studio films, and it seemed that the best days of his career might still be ahead of him.
These days, dude is working at a hotel, selling timeshares to tourists in the Cayman Islands.
We reported last week on the news that Hammer was working at a resort in the Western Caribbean, but at the time, Hammer’s lawyer denied this somewhat embarrassing development in the life of his formerly-wealthy client.
The denial was so convincing that TMZ deleted their post about Armie’s new job — and that is not an outlet that retracts stories just because they experienced a little blowback.
Perhaps as an act of revenge the site has now doubled down in its investigation of Armie’s new gig.
And they say they can confirm with absolute certainty that Hammer is putting in full-time hours selling time shares.
They say they’ve even obtained a video in which Armie gives a couple the hard sell, explaining to them that a deal that would only cost them $2,020 per week is a hell of a bargain.
That’s only $21,000 for 10 years of vacations, Armie excitedly explained at one point.
Now, it’s not uncommon for movie stars to quit acting in order to open restaurants or pursue some other passion.
But no one harbors a deep, abiding passion for harassing people on vacation and convincing them to buy into your glorified pyramid scheme.
So how did Armie reach this lowly state?
Well, it all started with a bizarre rumor that Hammer has a cannibalism fetish.
This led to corroborating claims from young women who claimed that they’d had sex with Armie and were subjected to his deviant behavior.
That was a problem, as the actor was married at the time to the mother of his two children, Elizabeth Chambers.
For obvious reasons, Chambers kicked Hammer to the curb, and not a moment too soon.
The scandal continued to grow, and Hammer has now been accused of sexual assault.
If he’s convicted of any of the charges against him, he could wind up going to prison — which might explain why he’s been cooling his feels in a foreign country since the beginning of the pandemic.

It’s not cheap to live at an island resort, and Armie’s been doing it since early 2020.
Add to that a costly divorce and the need to retain high-end legal counsel in the event of a criminal trial, and it’s not hard to see how Armie might have fallen on hard times.
Or maybe he’s just the one weirdo on the planet who enjoys using high-pressure sales tactics on people who just paid a ton of money to relax for a few days.
Whatever the case, this is certainly an unexpected twist in the life of a man who once showed signs of being Hollywood’s next big thing.

At least a bunch of tourists get to go home with a hell of an interesting story about their time in the Caymans!
